Egypt will definately be the warmer of the 2 places. You will probably pay the same price too. Good luck.0

we spent 5 weeks in Lanzarote over last xmas- we had a villa with a solar panel heated pool. the kids went in it most days though i felt it was rather cold (i like jacuzzi wamth though), i did go in on xmas day and it was ok, the weather near the pool hit 35c that day and it was hot!!, in Lanzarote you do get a wind but its not like wind here, its more like a warming breeze?? we did have some storms but again once they finish its back to the sun!.
we were up in Tahiche which is a local village and higher up-when i did go on the bus down to costa teguise the temp was noticbly higher and tourists were allways in beachwear. I did visit the beach several times, it was good as you have loads of fish around you and a lot were snorkling bringing in seaslugs etc to show the kids.
I dont know egypt at that time of year im afraid xx***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Literally just come bavck from Egypt (yesterday). ATM it is still 30 degrees plus in the day, but it does start to get chilly at night, though we never needed a jacket. We went to El Gouna, (plus Cairo and a Nile cruise - not recommended for kids!!) and there was quite a few children around in our hotel (Movenpick) and they advertise that they heat the pools in winter. Red Sea very shallow for about 1km there, we had to walk that far to get to a platform out at sea to get some snorkelling in but there was a deep channel on the way. I would not call the sea warm, but neither was it cold. El Gouna is very safe, the Movenpick end is very quiet though, I would think that you would need a hotel with plenty of entertainment, or perhaps even go to the Marina end of El Gouna where it seems to be a bit more lively.
Wherever you go, have a wonderful time! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Pinkcandyflossprincess we spent last december in Lanzarote and found it alot colder than that. While we were there it wasn't beach weather at all, ok to sit around a sheltered pool, but on the front in costa Teguise everyone was wearing coats/jackets.
Dont get me wrong we had a really lovely time, but I wouldnt go there with any intention on swimming, the pools (even acclimatised) are cold and the sea is freezing!
That was the first holiday we have had where we couldnt have a swim unfortunately.£100 - £10,0000 -
thats odd, we did have a few cold days but xmas day was lovely, we did have sheltered walls around villa which cuts out the wind. i remember there was storms the week before, we had a potted plant land outside, pot and all:rotfl:
I have the pics on facebook of us all on xmas day-you can see oh has a sweaty head:o
we had a thermometer that recorded the temp outside , thats how i know what temp it was for that day.***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
We usually stay in a Villa in Lanzarote with Electric heated pool and Hot tub! Lovely on a cool night. Playa Blanca warmer than Costa Teguise0
