Housepricecrash.co.uk...cowards!!

I recently posted a few threads on houspricecrash, and as much as i agree with their core argument i now believe the site is run by cowardly little money makers who don't give a toss one way or another about a houspricecrash.
I posted yesterday one the subject of it's members getting a little bit more pro active, my suggestion was a march in the square miles to highlight the damage the Banks in that area have caused, i have now had all posts removed(all 10 of them)

HOUSEPRICECRASH HAVE RUN A MILE.... COWARDS.

That site is preaching to converted, it makes it's money from advertising so in my opinion it does not want to rock the boat. I am now with great difficulty looking at organising a march to highlight damage caused by the bankers around the city square mile.

Anyone who could help out would be appreciated

  • It's certainly been mentioned before that people's posts are being inexplicably removed. Don't know the details in your case, but it does seem to be a problem.

You can only post on hpc if your opinions fit in with the sites particular idiom. Namely, complaining pointlessly about house prices being too high and denigrating any one who is trying to buy a home as a sheep and an idiot.

Stick with those topics and you'll be fine.

On no account attempt to talk about doing anything that could actually cause prices to become more affordable as that will put them out of business.

It is a very bizarre place. I never joined, but used to regularly read the threads about 2 years ago for about 12 months as I was genuinely interested in their views. It soon became apparent that it was the same series of threads repeating themselves over and over again. Loads of people justifying holding out for THE BIG CRASH. They just can't accept it's not going to happen. There's people on there been holding out for 10 years, they just need to get over it, I think they'll be far happier people.

I keep dropping back in every so often and it's the same people saying exactly the same things.
  • If you're observant enough, you'll often see posts asking "what happened to <username>, he seems to have stopped posting lately". In all probability, that person has been banned for suggesting there's no reason for prices to crash. Reasoned debate died long ago on HPC.

  • a more dispiriting site than housepricecrash.co.uk I have never seen. And - given that this is the internet - that is saying something.

I bought once in 2006 and once again in 2009 in the trough after prices fell. So I am probably considered a double mug. But both flats are probably still worth what I paid and in the meantime I've had four very happy years of enjoying them and of "settling down" -- that's priceless -- and I suspect the 2006 purchase will in the long-term prove a nice "investment". Of course, !!!! could hit the fan and they could be worth nothing in a year's time, but spending all of one's time calculating such possibilities really is a bad use of time. I'd rather be painting walls. I have great sympathy for those who are struggling to afford a place, but from what I see hpc is full of people waiting for prices of dream places to come to them rather than people willing to cut their cloth or save for what they think they deserve. I am sure both of my flats would be considered "sh*tholes" but I have been perfectly happy with both and, in London especially but in life too, you've got to get over your pretensions and deal with the reality.

My sister convinced me when I returned to the UK in 1999 (!!) that prices were ready to halve, so I held out for many years. That experience has made me sceptical of the armagaddon brigade.
