Gift Ideas for Teachers/Teaching Assistants/Dinner Ladies

I think a card is lovely. If people do want to get a gift another idea is a sweet tree (look on the special occasion board) I think they would be cheap to make and really effective. Sweets in wrappers would avoid the issues raised with homemade/handled food etc.0

Oh and recycling gifts can go too far, I once received a very old gift bag of toiletries. It had obviously been sitting in a bathroom for a while and was wrapped and given to me with a few extra's of the short and curly kind, gross but it was the thought that counted.0

ive a frined whos a teaching assistnat and she posted her presents on facebook and critisised a few, i was furious at her as know that all my other friends in education would never do such a petty sad thing.
I make jewllery so i ask my daighter to clue up what her teachers wear and she chooses beads etc, and thrilled when she sees them wearing them, ive given male teachers biscuits and coffee/tea lol x:A :j0 -
I always make my little girls teachers their presents each year (although i have my own craft business so its the norm for me!!) and they seem to much more appreciated. How about getting your child to decorate a photoframe and write their own message in the part where the photo goes.
If you need any idea's feel free to pop over and look at some of the items i make as teachers gifts. one of them might just give you some inspiration of something handmade you can make. Glass etching is so so easy to do using glass etching liquid which you just rub on glass and leave then rub off xxxV 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550 -

Sorry jelly, to me its tat! Just because I cant tell the quality of the flannel (I know its cheap but if it wouldn't be used...) and we don't use hard soap.
Couldn't you make your own version? I'm sure it wouldn't cost much more, maybe a flannel and a lolly pop, bath pearl, single chocolate like a forrero richer. Or as previously said, could be done with socks.
I was going to buy my dd's teacher a yankee candle but I've decided some tea bags, coffee & nice biscuits in a box on the last monday of term to be put in the staff room so everyone can enjoy it. Twinings tea bags are currently £2 for 80, m&s cookies (loads of flavours inc cherry bakewell and carrot cake!) are £1.99 and 3 for 2 and just need to find some nice coffee on offer!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

I like the idea. But totally agree that quality makes the difference. How good the soap, how it smells, how nice the fabric to the touch...0 -
Rather entertaining thread here.
We have 2 school age boys and 1 pre schooler. We give a fiver to the collection for the class teacher and the TA who has worked with my YS this year.
We then do something hand made for the teachers and TA and pre-school staff. Totalling 7. I try very hard to come up with something that would be useful/valued that the kids can do themselves that doesn't cost much.
This year we are making sock cupcakes. Using a template for the cupcake case and some card stock we already have and cellophane wrap with ribbon to make it too pretty. The male teacher is getting 3 of these and the ladies will get 1 pair of socks and a bath bomb. Total spend £14
I forget everything we have done but some of the things we have made include ; handmade bookmarks, painted cup or plate, neck warmer.
End of term - woohoo!!0 -
As a secondary school teacher we don't get as many gifts as in primary. (probably a good thing as most common gifts being chocolate and wine I'd be overweight and drunk all the time lol) .
Seriously the gifts I've appreciated the most are cards with a thoughtful message inside, where the child has taken time to say thanks. Also I have a Christmas tree decoration from one of my past students which comes out each year so I always remember her.
