This isnt a dig or me having a go so dont take it the wrong way.
All this should have been thought of before you placed the bid. Pehaps viewed and got dimensions and worked out how to get it home.0 -
Thats the same thing in my book.paddedjohn wrote: »Ignore the above comment, you have not bought it yet, only agreed to buy at the agreed price.
Thats poor advice because its incomplete. You can't just walk away as if nothing had happened. If when you go to collect it is not as described in the ad then you can just walk away.

Ask them to have it plugged in and working for 24 hours before you come round and then you can see if all is OK.0

Goo advice, th eonly real way to check a fridge is to see it having been working for a few hours.paddedjohn wrote: »We have had an american style samsung fridge/freezer from new for 6yrs now with no probs so i wouldnt worry too much. I have been uing ebay for a number of years and the best advice i can give is to check the sellers feedback thoroughly to satisfy yourself of their honesty and then ask all the relevant questions about the item. If it transported on its back/side then make sure you leave it standing for a few hours before you plug it in.
Yes they have bought it, please be careful about giving misleading information. Obviously no one can force them to pay and yes they could walk away but not without consequences. The seller can do an NPB on the buyer and that gives them a strike. Two strikes and the OP would effectively be banned from buying on ebay as most sensible sellers block buyers with two strikes as time wasters.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have a Samsung American style Fridge Freezer (had it a while without any problems). They are very, very heavy and not that easy to move. I would worry about moving it without damaging it, as the sides and doors will scratch easily. It would be best transported standing up if possible, but that rules out most small vans. I also had to take the doors of it (fairly easy) to get it in the kitchen.0

If the item is not as described (i.e major misdescription - was badly scratched or didn't work for example) then yes they can "walk away" without any major consequences
However running the fridge for 24 hours before may make it difficult to transport as the freezer will be frozen. May be just ask them to plug it in when you get there and listen for the compressor to start up, check the lights work etc.
Next time I would buy from a second hand appliance shop as you will get some sort of limited guarantee0 -

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A CAR ON EBAY WHICH WAS NOT AS DESCRIBED, IT WAS DENTED ALL OVER, NEEDED NEW TYRES, ENGINE RATTLED, ETC ETC, THE AD SAID "IN EXCELLANT CONDITION WITH GREAT BODY-WORK AND READY TO DRIVE". OBVIOUSLY I WALKED AWAY WHICH IS QUITE LEGAL AS THE ITEM WAS NOT AS DESCRIBED. THIS IS NOT MISSLEADING INFORMATION, JUST COMMON SENSE.
A NON PAYING BIDDER STRIKE ON THE BUYER CAN BE SUCCESFULLY DEFENDED WITH NO REPERCUSSIONS, EBAY GIVE AMPLE TIME FOR THISBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
I did go to view it before handing over the cash, the seller was very friendly and said I could come over to look at it and if I was happy collect it later, I did. The fridge is pristine, looks lovely, works perfectly and was honestly one of the best purchases I have made on ebay
