Bright Stuff texts on Orange phone

I keep getting texts from Bright Stuff, about two a day, and it's driving me mad:mad:. My phone won't even download the message so I don't know who they are and I'm loathe to reply as I'll probably get charged a fortune. Anyone know who they are? TIA.

Bright Stuff is Orange's reward scheme for Pay and Go customers, isn't it?

Ah, well in that case I can presumably opt out of receiving texts. Thanks.

It's some sort of Orange promotion, but it can get annoying. My fiancee was having the same spam on her phone. Fortunately, it can be stopped. Test "stop" to 200000.

Anyone else having trouble in permanently opting out?

I get a stream of messages from several 6 digit numbers starting with 20. I text 'stop' to them and they responded telling me to send a text to '200000'. I did so and received confirmation that I had 'Opted out of Bright Stuff and the service will stop in 24 hours time'.

Not entirely sure what 'service' I was receiving but the spam did stop for a month and then it started again. Have asked them to stop once more and received another identical confirmation.

I gather that Organge are obliged to let us opt out of this nonsense. Does that mean they are free to forcibly re-subscribe us a few weeks later?

Was thinking of leaving orange anyway. This provides one more incentive to do so.

I emailed orange customer.services__AT__orange.co.uk with my orange mobile no and they called me to confirm stopping - haven't had any since.

I am a Mobile Pay as you Go customer.
    I called this freephone number 0800 801080
selected option 2, then 2, then 4 and got through to Customer Services (Personal) in Delhi.
He deactivated Bright Stuff messages from my account and adviced me to wait for a confirmation SMS in 24 hours. And then reboot the phone or take out the battery and replace.

I had a text from Orange this morning to say they're withdrawing Bright Top Ups service from 26/03/12 :(. I assume we're going to lose our 300 texts when we top up. That's a shame. I knew it wasn't available to new customers but thought they'd keep it going.
  • Right okay, I had this very same irritating problem with Orange sending me texts every day about Bright Stuff, that I never wanted or asked for. After sending STOP to the 200000 number a few times & still receiving texts from Bright Stuff I called customer services (0800 801080) & after a very looooong automated phone service, I got through to India, this call lasted 25 minutes plus & I had got nowhere, bar telling me the obvious, then I asked who is Bright Stuff & the response to my question was, they are a third party company" I said so why & how the hell have they got my number & know I'm an Orange customer? he said maybe I agreed at some time to receive them, I told him this was impossible as I do NOT hand out my number to any company, then I told him that Orange must have sold my info or that Orange had been hacked, for Bright Stuff to have my info! Impossible he said, well someone must of handed over my details from Orange because only myself & orange know that I am an Orange customer I said.
By the end of the call & very frustrated by the whole thing, the operator had gone to ask for advice from his manager (for the second time & another 5 min wait), then he came back to me with another number to call.. This number was for "Orange online" he said, why the F**K would I want to talk to their online dept?? but it turns out to be BRIGHT STUFF!! it took a loooong time to get this from the staff in India & I suspect they're trained to hold this number back from customers for as long as they can. Ring this number from your pay monthly phone 439 this department can cancel ALL subscriptions that Orange think you need or FORCE upon us.

Then even though they have removed my number from all text communications I received a text from Orange online dept, asking for feedback! They'll never learn... F**k Off & leave me alone for F**k sake!! GRRrrrrrr LOL.

Hope this helps & good luck.

Actually I take that back as I am still receiving 300 free texts when I top up:j.
