We fed our (now 3 year old) son on SMA White for hungrier babies when he was a baby. He slept much longer on a night time giving both of us a better night's sleep. It took us (my wife more than me!) quite a while to make the switch, but in the end I think sleep deprivation got the better of us both & we took the plunge. The first night of 6 hours uninterrupted sleep was heaven.

It may be worth a try. The other thing we did was to take turns at getting up in the night. To be honest I think I did best because being a man, I'm really good at rolling over & going back to sleep whereas my wife would stay awake whilst I was feeding our son, which kind of defeated the object a bit. But you never know.....

    Good luck.

Hi I - A - have never posted on your thread before, but read it regularly!!

How old is K? My DD is 6 months now, and just wanted you to know you're not alone!!! Our DD was sleeping through - and going to bed, in her own room, by 6.30pm!!! She'd then sleep til 6am!!:j However, in recent weeks (since she had chicken pox)- it's all gone pear shaped, she's now waking up around 4.30am and often won't go back to sleep!!!!!! We've just started weaning, but don't have a clue why things have changed!!! We're both walking round like a couple of zombies, are really ratty etc....it's no wonder they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture!!!!!!!

Could she be too hot/cold/wet nappy etc? Does she get herself off to sleep or does she rely on you being there/rocking her/cuddling etc etc? All I know is that if a baby is to settle themselves back to sleep, they HAVE to be able to get themselves off to sleep in the 1st place - we're really perservering...but it's really hard work. Also - may be a good idea to keep noise down, lights low etc when she does wake - let her know that night time is different! Also, don't pay her loads of attention (if possible) - you don't want her to think that waking up/being up with mommy & daddy is fun!!

Jeez...I probably sound really cruel, and you may well have already tried all of the above (if so...feel free to ignore!;) ) I know you've got an older daughter aswell...I'm on child number 3 and still haven't got it sussed!!!!

Best of luck...let's hope all of us tired mum's & dad's get a good night's sleep tonight!!

Congrats on your debt reduction - really admire you!!:A

Morning all... well, I'm not as tired as yesterday thankfully... We went to bed about 11/50 after K had her bottle and a clean nappy. put her in bed and she settled herself off to sleep without her dummy so she must have been tired! I thought yhat MAYBE just maybe she's sleep through because she was so tired but no luck. She slept fine til 3, put her dummy back in and she then slept til 4.30 when she had a bottle. Then back to sleep til about 6.30 because she had a full wet nappy so I changed her and got her in bed with me..... I thought I'd given her another bottle but it doesn't seem that I have so god knows what time she was due... my brain has turned to sludge and I can't remember when I fed her and when I didn't!
going to try and give her a bottle now though...

AI - the babies are colluding together! Mine has been terrible for the last few days (nights!) and I am shattered.

I have had to start giving her bottles as my milk just doesn't appear to be enough for her.

You could be right. Our little one normally goes down at 1830-1900 and that's him until 0600-0630 the next morning. Occasionaly he will fidget and need slight reassurance but last night he cried a lot until he finally went to sleep at 2330. Must be something in the air. I blame global warming personally.

    Hi IA

We broke all the rules with Spud, by 4 months old he was having a scoop of baby rice in his evening bottle, he was BF the rest of the time but from 3 weeks old last thing at night he was having a bottle of SMA white and still hungary. Mind, we had to change to a faster flow teat too once we added teh scoop of baby rice as the mix was that much thicker. (In the end I just made a couple of the holes slightly bigger with a pin). Against all the rules & def not what the HV recmmended, but then she wasn't the one getting up every 2 hours every bl00dy night. Not that I'm necesarily recommending this in your case, just saying go with your instincts, you are more than likely to get it right!

Glad you enjoyed the hen day & I'm sure just this once your budget will recover without too many problems;) Wish I had your determination at budgeting...and I like budgeting & playing with money but tiredness seems to defeat me more often that not!

Well we just offered K her first bowl of baby rice (1 spoon rice to 10 milk) and except for the stuff that went all down her front she wolfed the lot! She really liked it and seemed to want more!! If she's not sick I'm going to offer her another bit before her bed bottle tonight.... :D
