  • Just got back from my term antenatal check up. Everything's fine baby wise and bump is measuring 37cms (which would make her roughly 7lb 7 if accurate) and is still 3/5th engaged. She also did an internal and said that my cervix is well on it's way and has already started dilating and they would've been able to break my waters if I were in the hospital (I'd been having really mild tightenings this morning so looks like things are starting slowly!). She also did a membrane sweep and has booked me in for induction on the 1st Feb. She did say that she doubted I would need the induction as she reckons things will start properly soon, especially having had the sweep!

Since getting back I've had some backache so fingers crossed it all kicks off soon! With Ashli my contractions started less than 48 hours after having a sweep and my cervix wasn't even nearly ready let alone already started dilating! Oooooh it's so exciting! Little bit worried because it's Steve's car theory test tomorrow and he's been working really hard towards it but it can easily be rearranged if things kick off over night. I'm sure they'll understand!!!!

Now we play the waiting game!! (Ahhh the waiting game sucks.. let's play hungry hungry hippos! )

    Ooooooh it's so exciting!

I'm up for a game of hungry hippos lol - LOVE that game!!

I've heard quite a few people talking about membrane sweeps, can't remember if I had one or not (I was well overdue and had to be induced but the only thing I can really remember was the midwife breaking my waters and then the shock of going from no contractions at all to contracting every minute....ouch! Does it hurt to have a sweep? (Hope it didn't hurt too much :o).

It sounds as though things are moving along for you now though, especially if you have had tightenings. Sometimes the baby's head doesn't engage until the last minute with second babies I think, so I wouldn't worry too much about her not being fully engaged yet.

Hope Steve's test goes well tomorrow, and all the very best to all of you xxx

It didn't hurt, wasn't as bad as having a smear but I remember my sweep with Ashli being really painful because nothing was happening with my cervix so I presume the more's happening the less it hurts! I had my waters broken with Ashli and I know what you mean! Went from having mild period pains to being in agony!!

I'm a Wednesday backer too (my Mum's birthday!)
  • Morning all!
Yes as you can guess I'm still here! 2 days overdue now but had a couple random pains overnight and have woken up with backache and some painful braxton hicks so fingers crossed. Ste's got his theory test this afternoon at 1 and this morning we're going to go into town and get Mothercare paid off (woohoo!!!) and do a top up frozen food shop at iceland so hopefully all the walking will nudge me over the edge!

Ste got paid today as well so looking forward to calling mothercare and telling them to stick their store card! Wooo!

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
