Morning all... not sure what's going on with K but the past 2 night's she woken up at 5 and only gone back to sleep after having a bottle... nightmare! hope this is just a growth spurt and she hasn't given up on sleeping through the night altogether!!

Ste's driven to work today. :) His mate who normally takes him into work isn't in on weds and usually Ste has to get the bus so today he's borrowed his mate's parking pass and has driven himself in. :) Also means he can go to tesco to pick up some nappies tonight.

Got tc today so that's another £64.44 in the dotty p's fund. Plus one day left for the xbox guy to pay up before I offer it to the next person. I've emailed him saying so as well so we'll see what happens.

I had the realisation last night that if something does go wrong again and we can't pay off dotty p's in full this month is really doesn't matter as we'll still be able to pay off the majority and make a huge dent in it, so I'm feeling more positive. I think from now on the debt account is going to be an emergency fund as well as a debt account, meaning that we save up til the end of the month and if anything does crop up we can use that and pay off what's left off the debt at the end of the month. Our journey to being debt free isn't about paying off a debt every month, it's paying off debt full stop and I really need to stop punishing myself for things I can't help. Like others have said, the fact that our fridge/freezer could go up the shoot and we had the means to deal with it without getting into more debt is brilliant and it would've been a completely different story this time last year. :)
Need to start realising just how far we've come since our LBM....

Anyway I'll stop rambling on and go do my piggy comps... have already checked the bank and it's not pretty but we SHOULD be ok. *fingers crossed for no more disasters*

Thats the right attitude to have IA. I think you are doing so so well and it is really sensible to have an emergency fund. Just imagine if your fridge had broken down and you had to get a new one on credit. Other people in debt would have to get it credit and as you might know people like Provident charge 170% apr.

With your maternity pay running out I think it is sensible to have savings for each month in case anything crops up. Good luck with Mr Xbox I have never had the problem it must be so frustrating....

    Hear bl00dy hear IM!!

I was fortunate enough to become debt free by remortgaging (next step it to clear that 10 years early!!) as we only had a small one to start with!! However we have still always lived on what we had without a rainy day fund. It was joing here that inspired me to become, shall we say, obsessed ;) with saving and I started on the windows fund!!

Now, this has somewhat been depleted for various reasons in the last couple of weeks BUT it was SO nice to have the money there when we needed it!!

So all in all, after that twittering, what I'm saying is  here's to making *it* work :D

    Perfect attitude to have!

The one thing I will not be without now is an Emergency fund. Its taken ages to save £1k in it but it does (just!) cover 3 months of basic bills. Have been hit with sudden redundancies twice in past years (where the company just went bust without warning!) and I refuse to be in that situation again!

And our debt is over £38k, so using the £1k saved will not make a real dent in it anyway.

And its something my OU tutor told me last week (becuase of baby I am about 8 weeks behind in study, but managing my essays). He pointed out that I should stop thinking about how far behind I am, but look at what I have done. I do have lots of kids at home, I have just had a baby, I am doing my essays and things will get easier. Be proud of what you actually have and what you have physically done rather than ponder on whats to be done.
