Something ate my tea & it wasnt me! Asda complaint - advice needed

Hi guy's
I'm just wondering how to tackle this, I received a home delivery from asda last night, now apart from numerous short dated items being received for example 5kg's of potato's - now come on I challenge anybody to eat 5kg's of potato's in 24hours!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
But on a serious note I opened up my iceberg lettuce to find the inner parts leaves had been munched away by a worm that was still alive & still continuning to eat away!!!
I knew there was a reason I dont like salad

Surely this has got to infringe some sort of health & safety or some other law's & reg's. I was horrified!!!!

If anyone can shed any light on how best to highlight this to Asda it would be greatly appreciated!

Ps. just another little faux pas from Asda that will surely make you all giggle - I ordered a pregnancy testing kit, it arrived - great, however it was still enclosed in the hard cased security alarmed box!! Bar taking it outside & smashing it with a hammer there is no possible was of getting into it!!! Oh it did make me giggle; well... until I found the worm!! Ewww

No health and safety or laws for things like this. Salad items can often have creepy-crawlies in them. However, it's not fit for purpose and no doubt Asda will refund you. Perhaps with some sort of goodwill gesture as well. Have you asked them?

    insect eat foodstuffs

    see here

that's why we wash lettuce (and other veg) before eating them...
it means it wasn't covered with insecticide while it was growing.

Re the pregnancy kit though - I would be cross about that!

Now, what's worse than finding a worm in your lettuce?

    Finding half a worm ;)

  • Wow somethign was found inside something that was picked from the ground! Im amazed.

what do you expect the pickers of vegetables and such like to do with them?search through every leaf and decimate the lettuce itself?

Get a grip - ring them up and get another/refund.

And your potatoes will last a bit longer then 24 hours.

    Hi & thanks.
I telephoned them regarding the short dated items & they refunded, great CS I thought.
I think maybe last night's delivery was just a comedy of errors but when I found the worm I was litterally furious.
Maybe just write it off as an experience & put it down to the hormones!!

Yes blame it all on your hormones.

  • Ps. I didnt mean to upset or outrage anyone I was only looking for some advice, as I believed that even I do as it say wash before use, I always thought that salad & veg was rinsed before packaging.

    Maybe just stupid & hormonal!!
