  • Keep going, you will soon be done! When I last moved house I was still packing boxes when the first van left! We hired two small vans and only just fitted everything in. I had to fill the car up to get the last things in.
Hope all goes well tomorrow and you are settled for Christmas.

    I'm such a lightweight - I didn't make it :o

DD is exhausted to the point of tears, and I am not far behind her, so we have stopped and I have sent DS to the chippy.....

If I get a second burst of energy after I have eaten, I will carry on - otherwise I will just accept that I have done what I can for today, and once the removal men are here and start taking things out of the house, I can see what is left, although tbh there really isn't much.

A whizz round with the hoover as each room is empty tomorrow won't go amiss, and a swish about the kitchen worktops, but all cupboards are cleaned so really I don't think it is too bad.

We need to take the beds down in the morning too, but that shouldn't take us long.

I will be glad when it is all over!!

  • Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....
    Quote

"Ok, so I know we have had debates about whether there are too many debt diaries or not, and I know that it is self indulgent to start my own but.....I am reasonably good at giving others support and the benefit of my amazing advice  but I am not so good at giving myself the same kick up the backside.

So, by putting it in my diary I will hopefully take some of it in and act on it!

So, the reason for starting today is because this week I feel as though I have hit a bloody great wall. We are snowballing and still have a long long way to go before we are free of this debt. We are doing everything right, rent out our spare room, don't have sky, don't smoke, have a shopping budget etc. I even buy stardrops for goodness sake - I really AM trying here.

Anyway, in the last month OH applied for an M&S LOB card and got rejected and I applied for a citibank current account and got rejected and it just seems that we are stuck with what we have got - high interest rates and no way of doing anything about it.

Our credit rating is officially "poor" although we are on top of all the payments and have never had a default or CCJ, so I assume it is the high level of debt that we have that is the problem. I spoke to a very nice lady at Experian who basically said try again in 6 months time. GREAT!

So, I need the motivation to keep snowballing - I have come this far and I need to keep going but it is SO HARD!

And to top it all, and to make me feel really bad, I got some extra money from my Dad's estate this week that I really wasn't expecting to get. I have bunged almost all my inheritance at my debts so far which has gone a long way towards getting things sorted but instead of bunging this extra at the debt, I have booked a week away in a fortnight's time. I had tried to convince myself that I could manage without a break but then........

So now I feel guilty about it - part of me says spend it and enjoy it and part says think of the snowball and what a difference it would have made.

So, humour me while I do this diary, and please feel free to lighten things up with your wit and wisdom. I promise that I will not always be this gloomy :D "Quote

Thank you - yes I have come a bloody long way - as have many of us who have spent the last four years in diaryland with me!

Thank you all - you have been so amazing and, as I have just told :money:, I certainly wouldn't have reached this point without you all.

Ahh dear Hypno, I am so so happy to see you at this point, you are such an inspiration for so many people, you have plugged away month after month, demolishing a mountain of debt, bringing up your wonderful children, working damn hard and finally, finally, finally, your time is here :D:D

    I was in the car today and singing away to 'Fairytale of New York', and some of the lyrics just seemed sooo appropriate;

    I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
    So happy Christmas
    I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They probably don't sound it written here, but as I drove along I was singing my little heart out, thinking of you and your journey and they just seemed totally right for me, you and lots of others on here ;):)

So I truly hope tomorrow is a happy memorable day for you, treat yourself to something, take some pics of day one in the new house, and when ds and dd have gone to bed, pat yourself on the back for doing such a bloody good job :T :T :T :T

Well done Hypno, DD and DS :D You have done brilliantly today.:T:T:T

I soooo remember the being so tired you can cry and it really is the time to stop and put your feet up. A good nights sleep, an early start and you will be done. Make sure you know where the beds and bedding are tomorrow, along with the kettle and coffee.

Impressed you have been chatting with MSE royalty again :money: :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear that you are all safely tucked up in the new house :j:j:j with a fantabulous new signature :j:j:j and yay to getting the loan of a dongle :T:j:T
