To be honest, I've tried that and whatever I do I still get the same search results as if I'd ticked "Search the web" rather than "Search pages from the UK" on the google home page.
You may have the UK google bar, It may sound daft but I downloaded the
USA bar and that gived you the auto search and the option to search UK only.0 -
That forum is a bit odd - why are they whingeing so hysterically about the lack of a drop-down access to history? I've got one, and there always has beenKen68 wrote:http://www.google.com/support/toolbar?hl=en
Down on the right is a discussion "Google Toolbar for IE forum" Older versions are being updated. I think temporally barring Google in Zone Alarm might work.
but if anyone wants to switch off updates, then removing the Google toolbar update notification from the start-up entries on the PC ought to do it0 -
Hi Redux, they might be talking about a Google history button, something I never used.0

With the newest Google toolbar for IE, you can add custom searches for almost any site. By doing it from the toolbar, or by builing 'buttons' (xml files)
Do this:
Go to Google.co.uk and tick 'pages from the uk'
Right-click the search field and select 'Generate a Custom Search'
It'll suggest the name Google.co - just Rename it Google.co.uk
From now on you'll have two Google buttons. One for Google and one for Google.co.uk (that defaults to searching Google.co.uk)0 -

Yes, just noticed it, Redux. Was mighty annoyed at the automatic update without the option to refuse.Managed to get rid Google on Startup tho still in Running Processes 276k.
Might keep it tho, but if any more tricks like that they go.
Forget now, wasn't/isn't there a Google mini toolbar anyway, on microsoft toolbar.0 -
it seems that notifier doesn't take no for an answer, and starts later on anyway, even when you've switched it off a few times (see in Task Manager)
It's odd, because I installed this update from another site, not from a Google notification, so maybe this option has only just been enabled - either that or the notifier isn't about updates anyway ...
I think that Firefox and Opera have a Google search by default, but not IE
As for searches, I find that typing a phrase in the main IE address box now more often seems to go to the first result (feeling lucky), whereas the Google search box gives a range. Also, my results are on the domain .co.uk but are still worldwide, so people wanting UK only results might have to press other buttons0 -
Have deleted the latest Google Toolbar, and its cookies etc, and put back Google 2 from an old disc, has what I want except spellcheck, but now out of the startups and out of the running processes.
Removed from Zone Alarm also.0 -
Would you believe it Zebra, Google 2 from an old disc has been updated to Google 4. Persistent beggers.0

I think they're trying to tell you something Ken0
