Google Toolbar

I really used to like the Google Toolbar, but recently it has been automatically updated and I'm not impressed at all, in particular I find that now I can't just search UK pages only.

Is there any way that I can reinstall the old toolbar?

I've tried system restore and it will run for a few days but then updates itself.

  • Cant you just click on the arrow next to the "GOOGLE" title click options, then search and make sure its set on the UK site , i havent updated its just a thought
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

  • If you look along the new toolbar you will see a grey button labelled settings. Click on that and you then get a sub menu one of which is "options". Click on that and you then have the choice of 3 tabs at the top. Click on the "toolbar" tab and you will then see a list of 8 other buttons you can have showing. In my list the "search UK " is last on the right hand side list. Click in the tick box and then remember to click on "apply" at the bottom. Then click OK and all should be well. x:T

    Thanks guys.

To be honest, I've tried that and whatever I do I still get the same search results as if I'd ticked "Search the web" rather than "Search pages from the UK" on the google home page.

does seem to have gone that way on mine as well - even if I add the UK button in settings or use the drop down ( G) to show UK I get worldwide... maybe a bug they will fix

for example "payless" gives back the shoe company using the toolbar ( with or without UK selected)

but if use searchpage "payless" gives the UK taxman

Hi Zebra, it updated my toolbar automatically, and put itself into startup and running processes.
Have managed to reset the buttons to my liking, having no use for most of them, altho bookmarks might be useful.
Have managed to get rid of Google in the Start ups, does anyone know how to do the same in Running Processes, am on XP. I delete, it's back again.

If you do want to go back, you can find older versions here, and then switch off the update notifications I suppose

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_toolbar/

    - and loads of other programs too

Down on the right is a discussion "Google Toolbar for IE forum" Older versions are being updated. I think temporally barring Google in Zone Alarm might work.
