We never had the whole 'presents around the tree' thing before the actual day - those sellotaped corners simply proved too tempting...
I remember finding a snooker table all boxed up behind the sofa, under a blanket when I was about 8, although I didn't actually want a snooker table I soon talked myself into the idea and was really pleased.....come chirstmas morning though I was miffed.....no snooker table...... my parents had actually been storing it for my Aunt and Uncle to give to my cousin, I was gutted.:D"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Boys are 12,13 now so its not so much of a problem.
Many a time they have opened the boot and found stuff I had bought. For years they were under the impression that I did everyones christmas shopping as I always told them it was for someone else. (very gulabel my kids).
One year even convinced next door neighbour to come with us and boys to the bike shop so he could measure them against bikes as he was buying them for his grandchildren, who had not even been born at the time. They were more than glad to help and even told him that we would look after them so that they would not see them before the big day. We did not give them the bikes on Christmas day, waited until all the fuss had died down and them out to get something from the shed, they came running back in telling us that the bikes were still there. We then said that they might as well have them, their faces were an absolute picture.
So far next door neighbours wife has bought NDN an xbox 360 and various assorted games, NDN is in on the act and keeps telling the boys that he really hopes somone gets him an xbox 360, they just keep quiet and tell him he has to be a good boy. Poor old NDN is 66 and like me has trouble with a mobile phone.

We usually hide ours in the loft but we are having the loft converted to a bedroom next month so had to find somewhere else!! This year they are hidden behind the very heavy shelving unit in the kids toy cupboard!! Funny when they are in there knowing they are so close to their pressies and have no idea!!0

We hide ours in a storage box under our bed in the middle with other things stored in front of it. Unforunately that box is now full so I've had to get another one out for DD's - luckily for me the new box is only just tall enough to fit under the bed and you have to lift the bed slightly to get it out to open so I know my 5-year-old is not going to be going in there as I can only just lift the bed :rotfl:
Next year I already have my hiding place planned...but I'm not saying on here incase my mum reads itCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Things that other people give us, goes under the tree as we get it, the things Father Christmas brings (from me, DS (10) has announced this year he doesnt believe in FC:eek: ) go into the loft for him to collect and then bring back on christmas morning, if they have been good enough!!!!0

I buy all year round, I know my kids have tried getting up early, looking under the bed, behind the tele, in cupboards, in the shed, in their own bedrooms and I was always on tender hooks-will they find anything?! One cupboard, one lock-peace!! xxx0
