Wireless adaptor keeps dropping connection

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your help.
Yes I know how to get into my router using 192.168.0.1. The instructions look a wee bit complicated, but I think I could manage if I carry them out step by step.
I haven't had time to try today, been busy, and looks like another busy day tomorrow.
Do you think it's worth me trying this with the Sweex or should I just wait for the new wireless adaptor to arrive seeing as I have already ordered it?0 -

Yes for practicebut for now file it away, your call on that , there is nothing to lose and since you are getting a new dingle nothing much to gain. Have a busy day tomorrow, and so will I, mine involves the patron saint of beer ... Saint Ella . If you need any help this forum rocks but ask for RIK

Just an update.
I got the new wireless adaptor and it installed without needing the disc as it worked as soon as I connected it. It worked fine for a week with just the occasional drop out.
However yesterday it dropped the connection and wouldn't connected again apart from one minute at a time when I still couldn't access the internet. I installed the drivers and utility from the disc and it connected only to drop the connection again.
This morning I tried for 3 hours to get it connected again, including updating the firmware on the router using the laptop.
I would sometimes get "connected with limited access" or "Access Local only". I Googled this on the laptop and it appears to be a Vista problem.
I did attempt the instructions above, but didn't quite understand the part about "outside that range" as I put in a value it wouldn't accept. However I found similar instructions using Google which explained the range so was able to fix the IP address. I have also disabled the Internet Protocol v6.
I am not saying it's fixed until it has been stable for a couple of weeks, but I have been able to stay connected since carrying out the above.
Many thanks for your help and I hope the next update is in a couple of weeks time to say I've had no further problems, but I'm not counting my chickens just yet.0
