It has been my unfortunate recent experience to witness first hand the insurance price rises associated with three vehicles I have to re-insure next month.

All have been owned/driven by me from 3 - 10 years at the same address - 46 years old, no claims, no convictions - older and wiser but soon to be poorer. Always had full no claims on all the vehicles - 1997 1.9D Golf, 1997 MX5 and 1994 Nissan Cabstar.

There have been rumours of insurance rises in recent years for good reasons but with comparison sites and money off offers, through Quidco, my insurances have reduced or stayed the same. This year is different. For the first time ever, the car renewals are the cheapest I can find. Renewal for the truck is only beatable because of money off through Quidco for new business.

Bottom line - MX5 - up 20% (renewal with £10 admin fee refunded - classic policy)
Golf - up 74% (renewal but saved £50 through Quidco last year)
Cabstar - up 52% (new company £40 discount through Quidco, £45 off last year)

As you can see these are good examples of totally different vehicles showing large rises in insurance price. My advice is to expect a large rise in like for like insurance renewal on your car/truck insurance this year and don't waste too much time trying to get blood out of a stone as I have. Hopefully my two motorbikes won't be affected so much next spring.
