Can't get on-line after 4pm Help!

I would be grateful for any help here. I am with Tiscali (Talktalk) and use their Siemens gigaset SE587 router for my mac G5. I have contacted them about the intermittent nature of my broadband. One of their suggestions to to use an 'ethernet' extension lead instead of the phone one which I use now. Should I buy one of…
