If you never turn the power off how do you know what the battery is doing?

When I first got my laptop if my battery was charged at 100% and I unplugged the charger it would last just over 4 hours before it got to about 10% left, it lasts just as long when I do it now.

I should really hope so, after 6 months for £700.

My chuckabout laptop is a IBM Thinkpad T61. 3 years old and going like a trooper. Bought it a year ago and paid £65 for it, £25 for a new battery and £10 for a s/h 120GB HDD. Core 2 duo, built in 3G modem and bombproof....

Also note that the Acer deal was around April this year I think. So my laptop battery has already outlived that of the Acer 3 times, it has absolutely no problems with any of the functions, I use it daily and I am expecting the battery to last me at least another 3-4 years.

Indeed. The battery on my Macbook Pro 2009 model is rated at 1000 cycles before a noticable drop in life. That should be a good 4-5 years.

lol!!!! no got the kid at tesco to fit it for me!

I really wondered where the cheapest place to buy a battery was - obviously I can google but not as well as you!!! I have to type my own search in on my Samsung.

    Tesco? Asda? Which was it?

I remember the Tesco ones sold more than a year ago. Mine is still ticking over nicely, though the battery life was never any great shakes.

I bought a chunky extended use battery for £38 for use on my travels. Now get more than nine hours per charge.

If you need one in white, you can get a nine cell battery for £30, as opposed to my 12 cell battery. So maybe 5+ hours of charge on that one. Your original is probably a three cell battery. The larger batteries lift the back of the Netbook from the desk.

If you just want the standard battery, you can find them here alongside a higher rated model.

Standard rating is 2200mAh, which gives a mere hour and a half. Mine is rated five times that and can be used as a defensive weapon within a sock if necessary. :)

  • How people can knock the aspire one, mine cost me 75 quid from asda allmost 2 years ago, its got a 160 HD and runs well

my battery died and i sent it back to acer who i guess updated the bios, its since died again ( which doesnt make sense, afterall its got the new bios )

the super large battery is 40 quid, this will last for 8 - 9 hours use
