let me google that for you first link

to replace it you just slide the old one off and slide the new one on, surely you had to fit the battery when it came, and instructions will be in the manual.

I'd like to say I'm surprised but people still think these low rent laptops are worth a toss.

FWIW I sell 3-4 year old corporate class laptops which are still getting over 2hrs on their original batteries.

    Oh dear....oh dear...oh dear....you bought one

Didn't you realise that thread was a windup.

Anyway I took the sensible option and bought a NC10 :D
  • Don't buy a new battery yet!!

If you allowed the battery to go completely flat, the problem is with the netbook and not the battery. All you need to do is flash the bios - just google it for where to get an updated bios and easy instructions on how to install it.

thanks all will try all the tips!! My kids love them as spare computers, they also have laptops and I-pods but still use these, especially for word processing as the keyboard is easy to use, lovely big keys for such a dinky thing.

Always come up with the help here!!

I really wondered where the cheapest place to buy a battery was - obviously I can google but not as well as you!!! I have to type my own search in on my Samsung.

Cheap laptops are really not worth the money. I have a Mac, it may have cost me £700 but since I got it last April it has never failed on me, the battery is just as good, I never turn the power off, I just leave it on the side, the only time it powers down is when it restarts after a software update, then I start it straight back up again. I'd much sooner spend more money on a decent laptop then end up buying 5 cheapo ones that will last the lifetime of 1 decent laptop.

News flash :) They all use cheap components. Don't fool yourself.

We have had 5 in this household, including the Samsung and the Aspire. They are all still running including the original Asus 701, which my father uses as his day to day computer.

The Acer Aspire battery not charging issue is well known, and irritating, but easily fixed. The fact you need to dismantle the machine into atoms to add more ram is also irritating!

However, our Acer Aspire runs lovely Ubuntu and my daughter uses it every day and loves it.
(though she had to customise it with some sticker 'art' before she was happy!)

I should really hope so, after 6 months for £700.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

    Last april, that's 18 months.

Also note that the Acer deal was around April this year I think. So my laptop battery has already outlived that of the Acer 3 times, it has absolutely no problems with any of the functions, I use it daily and I am expecting the battery to last me at least another 3-4 years.
