Planning Holiday in USA - Car Hire, Airport advice

Make sure you know where the fuel cap is on whatever vehicle you get. First time I went to the US I was walking around the motor for 10 minutes looking for it. Had to go and ask the attendant in the fuel station as it turned it to be concealed behind the rear number plate.
Ha! I did this with so many rental cars...then someone on the Vegas thread pointed out - if you look at the fuel indicator inside the car - next to the pump icon will be an arrow pointing left or right...the cap is on the side the arrow points to...though OK, I'm not sure where it would be pointing if it were behind the rear number plate (but I had a car like that once so it is a place I would check).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Hi,
A went through the whole process and found argus which had basic policy which included:
collision damage waiver (cdw) no excess
third party liability protection (tp)
theft waiver (tw)
tax
airport fee
unlimited mileage
breakdown assistance
But when I go to the booking page, they give an option for extra insurance at an additional cost:
Avoid ALL Excess Charges for just €5.50 a day! Mondial Excess Insurance gives you complete peace of mind. Most companies charge an Excess, if you have a claim - typically you pay the first EUR 1,000
Our Policy covers:
Excess up to €3,000.00
Windows
Tyres
Undercarriage
Roof
- Rental car key cover up to €550.00
- Personal Possessions up to €300.00
Tks,

Hi all
Just a quick question about prepaying via expedia for a Budget.com car.
Do you need need a credit card? In Portugal we didn't but with USA I've never rented.
Debit card only here I'm afraid.
If not... which out of Dollar and National do?
Cheers all xAre you a Thrifty Beatnik?0 -
Hi guys, I have same concern, I do not have credit card, only debit card..Can I still book through netflights?
I'm looking to book one way hire from LAX to San Francisco, after reading horror stories about additional charges and so on, I'm so scared to make booking..
Should I also buy Personal Accident Insurance when booking car?Best wins ever:
