Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone

DD 17yo and DS 15yo had a friend around yesterday, and they all decided that they wanted to learn to knit :j DD has done this before, so has moved on to purl, and has prioduced a beautiful piece of stocking stitch. The other 2 did great, too, and are going to keep practicing :T

My working week is done, so I have a day of needlework, interspersed with a bit of housework :D I'm then taking DS to look at a 6th form college tonight (straight from school). I'm going to make some quesadillas so that he can have them in the car, with a hot mug of coffee :) and I can leave some for his sister to have once she's in from college.

Have a great Old Style day everyone :A

The usual morning chores are done, the ice had to be scraped form the car before hubby could be dropped at the station, the fish have been fed & breakfast eaten.
I'm babysitting tonight for the FC, I shall take my knitting with me, I should only be a couple of hours as DD & DSIL have to go to parents evening.
I shall do spag bol for tea as it's one of the quickest things I cook.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

I think we're going to have blue skies this morning...still dark but it looks cloudless - would explain why it was so cold last night!

Pack-ups are done for kids, I have a portion of vege lasagne from the freezer and dinner tonight is minted lamb burgers that I got YS last week and froze.

DW will be on before I leave and DD is still in her PJ's and she has nursery this morning so I better get her ready!

    2nd Interview tomorrow....bit nervous :D
    Have a good day x

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here but my goodness its cold , at least we have had no more rain overnight.

Off to work today, still very busy there, so the day passes in a flash, which is great, just OH and I here tonight, I am off to London tomorrow to a meeting, so I have to get the very early train, dd was not impressed by the thought (as she would have had to get up too) so is staying at her best friends for the night.

Went to see dad yesterday, he is still so confused, and they still cant get him to do a wee sample, he keeps flushing it away :D.

Omlette for tea, with bacon and cheese, will do some tomatoes with it, and bread and butter.

Took little dog to the vets last night, waiting for a phone call today reagrding her op, we are getting mixed messages from 2 vets.

Ok better get on, have good days all and keep warm xx
  • Morning all!

I'm feeling a good bit cheerier this morning as I got an OU TMA back yesterday and scored 75%. I'm evidently smarter at some things than others!

Not sure what today will hold ... studying and preparing for next week's holiday, I think.

Hugs to all who need them and I hope everyone has a good, OS day.

Dull and chilly here. DH up and gone to work, but not at stupid early o'clock this morning, so I got a cup of coffee brought to me in bed before he left! Dinner last night was several different meals, boys had scrambled egg on toast, DH had egg, bacon, LO potatoes etc and I had LO sausages, jacket potato and b/beans - so several different bits of LO food that would have eventually been thrown away, feeling very pleased with myself that I used them up instead! Tonight we have beef stew, I'll make some dumplings as it's now that time of year for winter food, hoping for some LO to chill, label and freeze for a freezer meal - have been doing this but not always labelled items so can be a bit hit and miss - 1 valuable OS lesson learnt!

DS1 has a target setting day so no school and we have to go for an appointment later to receive his targets and a general chat (bit like parent's eve), and DS2's parents evening after school tonight - so busy afternoon but once been to DS2's school no need to go out of the house anymore and I won't be - it's too cold... wind is really cold here.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good morning folks, its rather chilly here this morning but lovely and bright. Good luck Jc with your second interview, hope all goes well. Very busy day ahead as working through my lunch hour. We are going to DD1's for tea so that will be a bonus - I might have time this evening to get some knitting done, it seems to have slipped by the wayside the past couple of days.
Have a good day all and hugs to anyone who needs one,

    Morning peeps
BRRR its verrrry cold here this morning, the outside temp was minus two when i left for work, yesterday seemed so much warmer but it was strange as it got colder later in the morning.

My usual bits and bobs have been done before i left, the wm was put on and the dw emptied, i shall hang the washing up on the airer when i get home later, i can`t seem to keep up with the washing at the moment and the machine is on almost every night

Tea tonight will be more of the chilli, its one of the dishes that i never seem to tire of and i love how its so warming when the weather is pants :D

Redruby - Hope that little doggie is ok, whats the op for if you don`t mind me asking?

JC2703 - Good luck for tomorrows interview!

  • Morning All,

Its cold but not as cold as I thought it would be. :) Not decided about the Kenwood yet, think I'll have a wee look elsewhere at prices too, but if I can get one around that price I think I know what I am getting for my birthday :D

Plan for the day is housework. I have cleaned the floors in the downstairs hall and loo already as Coco kind left me a pressie on the loo floor  and I want to throw out two bags of rubbish today, that is the plan anyway. My back is really stiff, but I think its tension rather than anything worrying so some stretching exercises on the cards too. After school we are off to see a high school for DS1, I am moving further away from the private school, and thinking about putting that money away instead for University or his adulthood, he is exceptionally bright, and because of the Aspergers I think a state school will fit him better (and only one private school was really interested in testing him, the others were vague about what support they could offer - even though he gets no additional support in school ATM), then if he needs extra help, we can afford to get him additional help if needed. So I have three to visit and chose from, our catchment school, the one his primary feeds to and another one which is a couple of miles away but the bus goes door to door.

Hugs spoons and hi fives for y'all, Good luck for tomorrow JC.

redruby, hope the dog's okay, you don't deserve anymore stress.
bargain bird, lidl change most of the food offers on thursdays so there might not be all the offers left today. having said that- half price sprouts :D:D:D

It's looking bitterly cold, got my thermals on ready for the walk to uni and had a bowl of hot branflakes and milk. I have never got on with the teeny 30g cereal serving size, but this box from lidl(german?) has a 60g serving which sounds much more like!
I've had the storage heater on over night, even stuck on med output it doesn't reach the whole room, but it's a welcome bit of heat! I'm considering putting a screen around me when I'm working at my desk to sort of trap the heat in :D Make a little cubicle around me, the desk and the heater.
