I really want broken sword and day of the tentacle- does any site have them (for free of course! - they are so old surely they must be free by now?)

Broken Sword series are still being sold (by Sold Out Software) and DOTT is still being sold by Lucasarts in various compilation packages (in DVD-style cases - most recently on Amazon) so they aren't classed as "adandonware" just yet. But if you want to play these, and all the other LucasArts games I highly recommend the free software ScummVM, which can get all these old games to work on the latest machines.
  • also try https://www.holyfile.com

    also very good
  • Cannon Fodder is currently being resussitated on my PC :D

Edit: No it`s not :( Wouldn`t install and left loads of files to delete as it didn`t unpack into its own folder!

One of my fav games from the 80's was Ghostbusters on the spectrum....

No one seems to have that one available on the retro sites....

the real reason is there is no more copyright on them as there to old and the vender cant be botherd. although if this goes to court it can be classed as illeal

It's on Abandonia... Alone in the Dark I&II.

I have II downloading as we speak.

Wether or not it's legal is debateable but it's there and it's free.

Copyright on a creative work does not simply expire if the copyright holder forgets about it. Indeed, unless the copyright holder explicitly chooses to release their work for others to use and abuse it remains subject to copyright long after their demise!

Whether or not they choose to sell copies for monetary gain is another matter entirely...
