T-mobile PC card & dongle compatible?

For over 5 years I have used a T-mobile 3G PC card modem (qualcomm globetrotter) on a contract account, which has now stopped working on both my laptops. The SIM card is OK and works on my phone though.
Could I buy a cheap T-Mobile PAYG dongle and use the same SIM in it? I see Tesco have them on offer at about 15 quid. TIA

USB adaptable adapter with my laptop for some months now, and I'm analytic blessed with the service. I say 'reasonably' because it would consistently be nice to acquire added speed, but provided there's a appropriate adaptable arresting I get a actual acceptable connection.
It formed altogether on a contempo cruise to Spain - the adapter acted as a accustomed adrift SIM does, and searched for the arch signal. I got a Spanish arrangement bulletin cogent me that I would be answerable an added fee because I was roaming, and I bare to acquire that. As anon as I clicked OK I was affiliated aural seconds, and the after acceleration was excellent.
In the UK I've had no absolute problems, and for me it's able-bodied account the £15 a ages charge.0 -
Yes the sim will work in either.
Or at least I've used my Vodafone SIM in a USB dongle, an expresscard modem, and currently in an unlocked 3 MiFi.
BTW - I'd like some of what the previous poster is smoking please...0 -
Thanks a lot to you both for your reassurances. The cost in tesco is far less than getting someone to look at my PC card, so will buy one this weekend.
KB I agree but be kind, he might just be a very happy helpful soul for whom English is not his first language, but never mind JC has been very helpful thanks.0 -
As you say it could be somebody trying to help you so if you found the comments useful he has done a good job.
OTOH it could also be a potential spammer boosting his post count to enable posting of links...0 -
KB that's too technical and cynical for me !!
However, I can confirm that yesterday I bought the cheapest PAYG T-mobile dongle I could (19.97 - the offer was for Tesco Direct only) and the old contract SIM works well, in fact it seems every bit as fast as my talktalk broadband and certainly 3 times faster than the old T-mobile PC card modem. Job done and again thanks for your help.0 -
Glad to hear you are all sorted.
A few months spent on this board watching the antics of spammers is enough to make anyone cynical about the motives of new posters who aren't clearly just asking for advice. Even some of those are part of a double act - one new poster asks and the other lavishes glowing praise on a dubious commercial product very shortly after.0 -
Make sure your contract is good value if you've had it for so long - whilst working in an IT role I slashed the total mobile broadband bill by 90% (yes, really) by ditching the old PC Card contracts and switching to modern MBB tariffs with the same provider (O2) :eek:0

I pay a fiver a month for 3 GB using my loyalty discount - is that excessive? I don't think so, but what do I know.0

Nah that's good - we were paying over £100 a month - but of course on a bill in the thousands that's a hundred pages long every month, nobody notices0
