It is dead simple - honest!

First peel and chop potatoes into chunks - put into saucepan of salted water and cook on hob for about 25 mins till soft. Drain them and then use a masher or a fork to mash them.

While potatoes are cooking - get another pan and put a little oil in it and then the mince - chopped up onion and chopped up garlic - tin chopped tomatoes if you like them or else stock cube- let it cook for about the same time as potatoes - stirring constantly.

Put mince mixture in bottom of oven proof dish and then add mashed potatoes on top ( you can make it creamier by adding milk) add grated cheese on top if you both like it.

Put dish in fridge once it has cooled and about 40 mins before you want to eat put dish in oven at approx180 :):)

  • This recipe seems fairly simple:-

Actually reading it, I think it might be a little too fussy for you...you don't need beef stock - you can always use stock cubes. Other than that it does seem OK (you can use dried herbs)

    Delia has one too:-

you can just use potato for the topping, not leeks.

Here's one from Antony Worral Thomson

Have a look through the recipes and pick one you feel happiest with. You'll do fine - honest!

All i'd do different to elona is brown the mince first (cook the mince till it starts turning brown then drain off excess fat- some mince is fatty) before returning to pan with the other ingrediants.

When I make mine, I always cook carrots and swede together, the mash them up and spread over the meat, under the potatoes, meat and three veg!

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I sometimes make this with quorn mince, grated carrot and tomatoes, garlic etc.

Mash with swede or turnip or carrot mixed with potatoes.

I was trying to make my original suggestion as straightforward as possible so person did not get flustered!
