Xnatalie I hope things get a move on for you (after your lessons!) .
I had contractions for weeks with my kids and they were not braxton hicks. I was already part way there when it finally did get a move on so labour was not long with most of them.
  • Thanks grandma! Been having pains on and off for 2 weeks and they are doing the job. Takes me ages to get to 3cm, then up to 3 hrs to 5cm and then at 5 they pop my waters and within half hr 10cm and baby born! Without too much info as lunchtime, all the background work is happening well ;)

Morning session went without a hitch and did plenty of jumping around, feel great - still 5 lb lighter than when fell pregnant and when I feel down I view my facebook album with pics every 2 weeks from 24 weeks and it really shows me how well I've done!

Love to all - please send labour vibes as I want this baby out now!

I'd also like to build in a proper 'savings pot', as I've realised (having read posts on several MSE threads about people recently having to replace cookers, fridges and freezers) that I'd not be able to do this 'at the drop of a hat' anymore. So I want to work out a rough costing for the appliances I couldn't be without (washer, hob, kettle, toaster, combi oven, fridge/freezer, freezer and vaccum being the main ones - I can live without the main oven now I'm only cooking for me, as I mainly use the combi due to less capacity to heat and also have a mini-oven), then guesstimate the lifetime of each and work out how much I should be putting away each year towards replacements. For now I'm going to ignore the fact that most of the appliances are already well into their 'expected lifetime', as if I didn't I'd have to put away enough to replace them all within the last 12 months rolleyes2.gif
Made a start on working out a budget for this one this afternoon, but would greatly appreciate input from people as to 'life expectancy' of the following appliances.....

Fridge/Freezer - built in one if that makes any difference, with each half being the same size as a standard 'under counter' appliance
    Upright freezer - it's about 4.5' tall
    Gas Hob
    Combination Microwave
    Washing Machine
    Kettle
    Toaster
    Steam Iron
Vaccuum (I have a Dys0n animal/anti-allergy, and would want to replace with the same)

I'm already giving myself a heart-attack with the annual figure I'm coming up with using 'best guess' on this, but don't want to base it on how long I've had my current ones without them packing in on me (nor how long the one I've recently replaced lasted - even though in most/all cases this could give me longer than I'm allowing :o)

    Hello all

Thought id stick my head round the door as if its ok im planning on joining you in next years challenge :D
I have followed the earlier threads when they were on the DFW board the first page links are fantastic (who knew there was so much you could do with a carrot)

What i would like to get out of this challenge.
Is altho we have been DF for 4 months we have managed to save.....(drumroll) not a penny :o we've just seemed to have fitted into our new budget.
where according to our buget sheet we should have at least £400 a month floating round somewhere (begining to think DH set up an off shore account :rotfl:)
so the plan is hunt down these wandering pennies.
Like most we are still living hand to mouth each month and this is gotta change as if i died tomorrow id still have to get up for work the next day to pay for the funeral

look forward to meeting you all
    Tori x
  • Hello all,
Its really nice to see so many people starting to think about next years thread and introducing themselves. Hello to you all!!!
I spent a whole £3.50 at the xmas fete. Tea and cake for me and Hollysmum and some snazzy xmas nail varnish for a treat and a £1 on a tombola which won Fishfinger a lovely cuddly owl. I haven't been out the house really since Tuesday due to weather and FF having a teething cold so I really enjoyed just being among human society.
On the way home OH treated us to a lovely steak each from the local butchers and I nabbed a pack of 20 scourers from wilkos for 25p reduced from £1. I'm planning to cut out xmassy shapes from them and hang them on a ribbon, then once xmas is over I can use them through the year as intended. I like a nice duel purpose item!!! Plus they are really light to hang.
    Hugs to all,
    Fishfinger
