  • Fuddle- Consider that bandwagon jumped!!!!

We have just got back from the official light-switch-on of our little town. It was really nice with a fake snow machine and lots of samples of mince pie and cakes ect from the local Costa. I did notice however that Santa looks suspiciously like one of the security guards from the hosting shopping centre lol. The fireworks were really nice to Fishfinger stayed awake for most of them.
And I was really string an refused to buy OH some roasted marshmallows for £2.50 for a stick!! We walked home via Aldi and brought a big bag for £1, I still have some kebab sticks left over from the summer before last and plenty of candles so once Fishfinger is asleep we are having a movie and marshmallow evening.
    Hope your all okay

Hi guys, been MIA owing to computer problems that have hopefully been resolved.

Just a quick update from Frugaldom and a bit about the term 'microholding'. It's part of a frugaldom project and also a subsidiary trading name, it isn't a challenge on here.

Annual budget still doing well, logburner saving us a fortune on electricity and the hens are laying, so nothing to complain about from this corner. :)

Hope everyone is doing well, just about to have a quick catch up.

Am wondering how Natalie is doing ... baby must be due any day now?

Apparently tomorrow is Buy Nothing Day .... easy peasy for all of us who do No Spend Days!

Hope you're all well and hugs to anyone who isn't.

    Hello everyone

I thought I'd wander over here for a look and I'm thinking about joining in next year.

A little bit about us, we're a family consisting of 2 adults, 2 children and a mad dog. We haven't been too well recently and both DH and myself are on DMP's - but hey we'll get there in the end lol.

My own little things I'm doing to cut back are using my slow cooker more, checking my energy monitor each time I pass it (just in case there's an appliance left on that I've forgotten about), trying not to be heavy footed when driving and getting the best deals on my shopping.

I've been keeping an eye on the Shabby Chic thread too and I plan on re-vamping my furniture instead of buying new. I've got a few pieces of old bedroom furniture and I want to paint my dresser as well, though I will probably wait until the weather turns better to do these.

My only question is really I know everyone does their budget for the year but I have to admit that I find that very daunting and I already feel a failure with money so I wondered if I could do my budget per month, I know that in the summer months I will have a surplus (hopefully) and in the winter a deficit but they should cancel each other out.

I will show my yearly budget, but in order for me to stick at it I really need to break it down into 12 even chunks for my own sanity really.

I hope this will be OK, I know it's not how everyone else does it.

    Welcome Mrs A!

I think you should budget whichever way works for you. I use a yearly budget but for individual categories like groceries, I aim for a certain amount monthly.

Good luck to everyone setting their budgets for next year!

I have annual budgets, but my spreadsheet shows me what my 'limit' is at the end of each month - and my aim is to not be above that (the exceptions being annual payments such as road tax, which hit me in January)

If someone was (for example) on a gas/electricity meter, like my DD has been in the past, then I'd expect their monthly budgets for this to be different dependant on the time of year..... as I'm on a budget plan I have a set D/Debit each month, which is why it doesn't effect me.

  • Hi all

Manic here with 4 kiddies :) baby came mon 22.nd at 10.29pm. I arrived at hospital 9.28 after treating myself to a well deserved Chinese ;) - I was put in assessment room at 9.28 and examined close to 10 - 6cm :) at around 10.15 my mum was about to go get my case (still wasn't very painful so left case in car as I thought it would all stop lol) midwife had to stop her as I then had 10 mins of contractions and he was born! Very odd as I didn't push - my body took over and I was stood over the bed thinking I couldn't do another contraction like that one - looked down and he was on a pillow on the floor lol (in assessment room!)

It was lovely and he is perfect - goes 6 hrs without feed at night and taken to BF very very well :) will post pic when time allows x x
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))
