apologies if in the wrong place, just wanted some advice!

came home from work to find about a quater of my back garden had been dug up...including my veg patch with yellow plastic fencing round it with the name enterprise on.

On checking by my front door there was a letter saying they had called to discuss 'upcoming' gas works in my area but i wasnt in... it also had a mobile number scrawled on the top... i've tried the number numerous times but with no answer...

are they allowed to do thiswithout my permission first?

well i dont think it was an emergency, we have gas... so they havent turned it off i came home at 3 and it was like that no-one to be seen working on the street, they've never been back and its still like that, turns out my two neighbours are the same but they only have small 'inspection' holes. They were both out and unaware of the works too, one phoned enterprise and they just gave him the mobile number thats scrawled on the letter.... said they couldnt help any further.

My experience of Enterprise is shocking. They made a right hash of a reinstatement of our drive. They caused untold damage to adjoining properties and are a law unto themselves unless properly supervised.Their employees are unaccountable to their management.

It sounds like British Gas are the Principal in this. I strongly suggest you find out what works they are undertaking and complain strongly that the chimps have already made an unwanted mess of your property and you want to know why and be put back in the situation you were before as quickly as possible.

Monitor their works closely wherever you can.;)

British gas would not have people digging in the street for gas works as they do not own the pipes. What area are you in and I will give you a contact number for your gas network to contact regarding it, if there is planned gasworks you would have been notified in writing if it is for mains replacement work. It could of course be a new or replacement supply for a close by property or possible emergency work that has uncovered problem that needs to deal with
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
  • Start taking photos, lots of photos and daily. Also contact Enterprise offices rather than the cowboys mobile number.

    thanks guys.
well its developed more, again at work today and came home to find almost half of the garden dug up, unable to get out my back door as they have blocked it with the yellow barriers. had to go through neighbours house to get to back to inspect!
As advised i have took some photos as they've removed flags now , and torn up tarmac!
On the plus side we received the letter advising us we were having work done in our area, suspiciously it had a hand written envelope and no stamp so think the workmen shoved it through the door!
They're renewing the pipes in the street and also want access to our house to inspect the meters and connectors as well.... we have to call them between the hours of 9.30 and 4pm to arrange a 'convenient' time.... when i work 9-5 most days!!

What area do you live in....??????
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Can you be more specific??

If you live within the area outlined in the map shown on the clickable link on this page then Northern Gas Networks are the people you need to speak to.

    http://www.northerngasnetworks.co.uk/

If you live west of this map then it will be these

Your gas transporter should be detailed on your gas bill.
