Don't know if this has been said already (haven't had time to read the whole thread) but last week when I was in Asda they had bits for makings cards - it was beside all the envelopes & folders - looked really cool.0

I scrapbook and have branched out into making cards. I made some for mothers' day and I'm really pleased with how they turned out. I noticed some handmade cards in our local post office and it got me thinking...
It'd be nice to have a hobby that makes me a little money as well as this site, which is my hobby that saves me money! Some good links in this thread. Thanks everyone.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
This is a great site that often has brilliant special offers on cards & envelopes. Quality is excellent & delivery very fast. Check on online store then special offers to see what they have. http://www.eco-craft.co.uk/The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
If you have a paper mill shop close by then they are worth a visit.
They do boxes of card. You choose what you want. Different colours, textures etc.
You get about 180 pieces of A5 card for £3.99 so that works out to be about 3p a sheet. Yes you have to fold it. But for that price it is brilliant.
I buy cheap envelopes of 50 for 99p. So before you add anything to it the card is costing approx 5p.
And you have a great choice of colours rather than just cream or white.

Hi i don't know if you have a Range near you but they are also very good and some things are quite reasonable.
I have been making my cards for ages, probably hasn't helped my financial situation but i would like to try and make a side line from it.

Hi - I save all old Christmas cards and cut out the pictures then use raised sticky pads to put them onto a new card also using coloured papers and glitter glue to make my own Christmas cards. Im going to start making my birthday cards using this technique too. I have bought card making kits but they cost a lot so I try to make my own up - anything goes. Ive used wool wrapped around a small bit of card then raised up by sticky pads ( from pound shop ) onto a new card with some feathers. I always keep ribbon from birthdays and Christmas to re use on cards. Buttons look good on cards too if you clip the back off them. Tea Bag folding is easy and looks really good ( even using a newspaper or magazine )- I think you can get info on it on Google. Old stamps can look good stuck to a card as a collage. Some places give away free postcards - again cut up and stick to a card adding ribbon, glitter glue to personalise it. Always keep wrapping paper that has nice pictures on it to re use on a card. Boyes shops round here do a small bag of the odds and ends of ribbon for a pound which is good for putting on cards too.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
My Mum and Aunty have craft nights where a few of them get together once a week with friends and pool all of their card making stuff and ideas. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
By all means look at QVC for ideas but these are often limited to sticking a few peel-off onto a card and sprinking a bit of glitter on it! The products tend to be a bit pricey and I cannot understand why they charge so much for P&P just to send a few bits of paper or card, etc.0

yes I know QVC is great to watch and get ideas off - people even video the craft idea hours for the tips:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0
