At my wits end trying to connect PC to wireless network!

I've spent an entire morning pulling my hair out with this, searched and searched online for answers, and now, as a last resort, am hoping someone on here might be able to help me before I break something

Right. So :o Yesterday, we bought a new Linksys Wireless Home Networking Kit.

We primarily use our laptop, which is always downstairs. We have a PC upstairs which gets used from time to time.

I have set-up and installed the router downstairs, no problems. I have set-up and installed the wireless USB adapter on the laptop, no problems. I now have great wireless internet connection on the laptop.

However, I cannot set the PC up to connect to our internet network, and can't figure out why. I am trying to do it with the only other USB adapter we have, a Netgear one, but it just won't have it. Each time I click on the network (Home45) and try to connect, it asks me to enter the router PIN in order to configure it???

I click on 'I don't want to configure this connection now: I just want to connect' but it still won't let me connect. It seems to want me to set up a new network (I'm sure you can tell I'm not all that good with techie stuff, I'm muddling through here :o )

I have entered the router PIN and gone through the motions on the PC, just to see where it would take me, but it starts asking me for a network name, gives me a random security key, etc etc.. and I end up making changes to the existing network when I don't want to. Then I come downstairs to find I have made changes which mean the laptop is no longer connected. And because I don't know what I've changed by mistake, I've ended up uninstalling everything from the lappy and starting from scratch again!!

I don't know if that's enough info for anyone to offer any suggestions but if you can help it would be greatly appreciated, because I'm sending myself round the twist with it all :( !

Log into the router while connected using the Ethernet cable, navigate to the Wireless Settings page and change the Wireless Network Mode to 802.11g and save this setting. Then try to connect the PC using the Netgear dongle.

Where it says Network Mode, I have a drop-down menu to choose from, and only the following options...

    Mixed
    BG-Mixed
    Wireless-G Only
    Wireless-B Only
    Wireless-N Only
    Disabled

... it is currently set to 'Mixed'...

I just tried to connect on the PC, my network is there in the list, but as usual, when I clicked 'connect', after a few seconds of 'getting information from Home45...' I got a little pop-up window that asked me to 'Enter Credentials':

    Username
    Password
    Logon Domain

I think the username will be admin? As I haven't changed it...
I know the password for my router, obviously
    Logon domain???

You should simply be connecting to your own wireless network. See if the following info here is helpful. You should connect in a similar way to your laptop downstairs.
