Good Garage Scheme Services?

2»

Comments

  • Sister used a garage in the good garage scheme a couple of weeks ago for a clutch cable. "Are you sure its just the cable and not the clutch?" yep.
They said it should be around £40. On pickup it had went up to £70.
Did it fix the problem? Nope. The cable hadnt been adjusted properly (the suspicious mind in me says it was to get more work i.e replace the clutch but hey ho).

I think Honest John has a 'real' good garage type thing on his website. He awards garages with various symbols depending on how many people have recommended them etc.

I don't think we'll ever get a good reliable measure of "good garages", some people swear by dealerships or garages purely because "the man seemed friendly", women are particularly susceptible to lies and !!!!!!!! from garage salesmen and mechanics.

My ex swore by one paricular garage until I showed her that cleaning the idle valve on her Fiesta was NOT a £50 job...... More like 5 minutes with a torx bit, an old rag and a can of plain old WD40.
