Good Garage Scheme Services?
Options
Hi have read a few threads & now 'am unsure about using a garage from the 'Good Garage Scheme' I just wondered if any one recently had used any of the garages & how they found the services? Positive feed back as it were.
Have wondered why more garages aren't involved?
Thx

Membership as far as I know requires the selling of certain products belonging to the GGS's founders.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Find my post about it. The Good Garage Scheme is a con. It is a scheme run and owned by Forte lubricants. Basically, local garages pay to join and get great publicity and in return they force unneccessary engine treatments on people, like fuel and petrol cleaners, ususally costing around £30 per service. IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE GARAGE IS GOOD, ONLY THAT THEY HAVE PAID FORTE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE SCHEME.
Of course, some of these garages will be reputable (they will have existed long before The Good Garage Scheme came into being) so if you have been recommended one then use it, but politely ask if they'll refrain from using their 'additives' on your car as they are an unreserved waste of time.0 -
Hi I assume as read in other threads it's a scheme set up by Forte (who manufacture motoring consumables) so as an incentive to buy their products they will promote your business for you. Is this true & is this why other possibly very good garages don't join?joe2cool0

I have used a local one on the scheme(but garage also came recommended to me too) I cannot complain about the service, time taken or price charged. It's always busy too(a good indicator)0

OK cheers guys so as mentioned just because the garage is part of the scheme doesn't mean its any good. & recommendation as usual. Pity I've no idea at the moment where best to go, looks like the dealer
Thx againjoe2cool0 -
Got it in 1 Joe.
When deciding whether a garage is reputable or not, do not use membership of the good garage scheme as a barmoeter.
Dealers get a hard time but get a quote from a dealer for a service then get a quote from other independents. Sometimes the dealers aren't as expensive as you'd think. Alternatively, the cheaper (and often best) garages tend to be small 'one man band' types. Best thing you can do is ask friends and work colleagues for who they recommend.0 -
Oh... is there any where you can check out true reviews of local garages if possible?joe2cool0

I used a "Good Garage Scheme" member garage for a service earlier this year. They did a good job, checked everything on the car.
I already knew they were reputable and that the "GGS" banner was just ploy for selling Forte products.
So some "GGS" garages will be good while others will not be so good.0 -
OK Thank youjoe2cool0

Hi guys......... a garage 'am interested in also 'subscribe to the Motor Industry Code of Practice' & The Motor Codes scheme is audited by the RAC & regulated by the OFT is this worth taking into account?joe2cool0
