cheapest way to call a mobile in pakistan

my parents have decided to live there for a few months and we will need to ring htem every week or so to keep in touch and i was wondering what the best way would be to ring their mobile from my mobile?

I cant ring 0844 numbers from my mobile as it would cost too much so any other alternative would be good

Also look at their details for phoning from aboard if they happen to phone you. My cousin was in Australia and phoned his brother's house where he was staying a few miles away, but when he got his bill he was charged a lot of money for the calls, it appeared he had phoned his brother who was only a few miles away but the call went to the UK then back to Australia not direct from A-B.

So like I say check their phone deal as well just in case.

    See http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/pakistan-mobile

The best of that lot to call from a mobile looks to be http://www.cheapcall1689.co.uk/ - 4.5p/min to Pakistan, and you can access it via a UK landline number. You can normally program your mobile so that it dials the access number, pauses for a few seconds while the call is connected, then dials the recipient's number.

Also take a look at powervoip.com - apparently it charges 3p/min and should also have a UK landline access number. I can't access that site from work though...

Nomi mobile (http://www.nomi-mobile.com/nomi-mobile-tariffs.aspx?tariff=nomi-mobile&lang=EN) offers 4p/min - don't know if there's anything cheaper out there. These services are fine if you don't mind switching SIM card every time you want to make a call, or carrying a second mobile, or transferring your mobile number to Nomi.

  • there are lebara, nomi, lyca mobile, etc who provide dirt cheap calls to countries around the world.
Also, you can get a calling card from any Pakistani corner shop and they would explain how to use it too.
