I have also fallen for this. I got a cold call yesterday from lifestyle money, the same organisation as lifestyle claims, and they appeared very professional but after the call i decided to check them out on here. I'm glad I have and have started the ball rolling on reclaiming the upfront fee as I have not yet read the T & C's. I don't normally fall for cold calls but the promise of a big payout (they reckoned in excess of 10K) pulled me in and before you know it, they had my card details. I feel such a mug. I hope the email to them, trading standards and claims regulation works. as always, thanks for the advice guys.0

Hi magiepiecottage.
Thanks for the great advice. I emailed MOJ and Trading Standards yesterday and have had a phone call from MOJ this morning. They've given me a case number and want to know if I get my money back. If not they will get involved. I feel so daft for getting in this situation but it looks like lots of people are. Thanks again.0 -
I am feeling really stupid after falling for this company. I was in a particularly vulnerable state when I was cold called. I agreed to them claiming my PPI. After a week or so, when I was feeling better, I phoned and said I thought I had stupidly made a massive mistake. The advisor seemed very plausible and assured me that I could not lose out. I have recently received a cheque for £198 from Halifax and subsequently received an invoice from Lifestyle asking for 30% asap or they I will incur a penalty charge as stated in their T&Cs. I will now follow advice from other threads and contact MOJ and Trading Standards.0

Took my Cubs pond dipping tonight.
One of them shouted excitedly "I've found a leech". I said "tell it you've never had Payment Protection Insurance".0 -
It seems I've found this thread a little too late. These guys called me up a few weeks ago, knew my name and chatted me up about taking out PPI claims. Same story as many others, I was told that I could be owed thousands and have paid the £359.98 fee on a credit card a while ago.
I've got a bit further than that though, have been sent their forms, filled them out and sent them back and they've now started to process my claims. They said they're sure that two of my credit cards will pay out and are claiming direct from the lender, they pretty much guaranteed they'll be getting £2000 from each claim and I paid a further two lots of £600 (£1200 total) as their 30% share of these two claims.
Haven't been in touch with them for a week and if I hadn't idly googled them and found this thread then I wouldn't have expected to for a while (they said the claims will take approx 1-3 months to get done) so am now starting to freak out a bit.
I don't mind going through the process if they get me my money back on the claims, then I guess I can count my blessings accept my losses and just not give them any more up front money for any of the remaining claims I've given them (there are two more credit cards and two loans which they said will take longer as they have to go to the FOS). I assume I've gone too far for them to do anything else.
Any advice here would be much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read.0 -
They contacted me last week I couldnt talk so they said they would ring L8tr. They did, 2day, and gave me all the speel about howmuch they could get me.When I asked what the cost would be they said£299.99 plus vat payable not to them but for the solicitors fee. The lady sugested I pay for it with the credit card THEY were going to claim from. she wanted my card details so I told her my wife was out haveing taken my wallet with hermshe would be back about 4pm.The lay said she would ring back b4 she finished work, she didnt. I do not and never will pay upfront for a service I have not yet received. If I employ a Solicitor they get paid after they have done the Job. My advice to anyone is never pay upfront get the bill after the jobs been done and then pay it.
Dont Get Conned by these people who randomly ring you up and offer you fast ways to get money its a scam.:cool:0 -
I was cold called by Lifestyle Claims back in 2009. They've had approximately £250 out of me so far. In return I have received not a penny and I am currently trying to reclaim my fees via the Claims Regulator. They further cold called me saying that for another £350 per item they could tell me how much I would get back and tried to persuade me to pay them this on my credit card! Beyond belief! If they knew and I'd already paid a fee then why should I pay even more.
On a more very serious note: they will send you a load of paperwork to fill in stating all your personal details, bank accounts, name, address, phone numbers, email, financial details and organisations information for credit cards, loans, mortgage etc basically everything one would need to steal your identity - and they sent me someone else's paperwork. I had all this information on a girl in Ireland who I was previously unaware of. She is very lucky that I'm honest. I was absolutely appalled. They were even reluctant to pay for me to post it all back to them. So I now also have to pay £90 a year in ID protection in case my details have been sent out willy nilly to someone else. Please, I cannot stress enough DO NOT use these people.
UPDATE - I finally got my money back with a nudge from the Claims Regulator. However, I am now still out of pocket to the tune of £86 a year for ID protection insurance for the foreseeable future because I do not know how many times they may have sent my details to other people like they sent the Irish girl's details to me. I asked them to confirm in writing that they have destroyed all my paperwork and details 8 weeks ago and they haven't bothered to respond. ALSO - because they were faffing about doing nothing for almost four years, added to the time the actual PPI's were in place, most of my claims are now statute barred so even if I wanted to trust another firm to try to reclaim for me, I'm out of time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE INCOMPETENT IDIOTS! :mad:0 -
I stupidly fell for this, back in october 2010, I was told I could get back 100's, I paid £352.50 on my credit card, I was sent lots of forms to fill in, which i regrettfully did, I was eventually paid back about £80 from 1 ppi (after they took their 30%), then as I had told them about 3 credit cards they would then get back any charges I had paid out, 1 of these was a barclaycard which I had cancelled over 6 years ago so they told me nothing could be done with that card and they were concentrating on the other cards. Months and months pass without me hearing from them and whenever I call them all I get is they are waiting on a reply from the credit card company. I rang them today and have been told that there are no charges that can be repaid to me from the other 2 cards so I thought finally I will receive my money back as if I wasn't financially better off after the process I would be entitled to a full refund of £352.50. How wrong could I be! Now they are saying that even though my Barclaycard had been cancelled over 6 years ago they were now able to get any charges back from them, so I am still waiting on getting my refund!
They have excuses every time I ring up...which of course costs me to call. I am completely fed up and annoyed with my self after falling for this, I'm not normally someone who would fall for this sort of thing but I was suckered in. If anyone gets a call from this company or any other who ask for money up front stay away!!! They say they have 80,000 satisfied customers, well if there are any out there please I'd like to hear from you.
Does anyone know what I can do to get my money back as they have had it for 20months now and they say I can't stop the process as I gave my permission when I signed the paperwork at the beginning to do their 'best endeavour' on my behalf to get some money back for me, in other words they can keep my money for as long as they want with as many excuses they can come up with.0 -
I had the call this week & stupidly fell for their talk... Telling me I could get around £6000 back but had to pay a fee of £299+vat.. Didn't tell me they would be taking it straight away... My husband was very suspicious so I called my cc company to be told they had taken 3 lots of money out. Cc cancelled straight away, company closed for the weekend now so can't do anything til Monday. Have sent emails demanding a refund & cancel the claim... Read the t&c which say I have a 14 day cooling off period.. Please can I have some advice as I have a feeling they are going to make it hard to get my money back...0
