Is orange broadband still free for orange Mobile users?

Hi Everyone,

I a using orange broadband for 3 years now. Good experience so far.I have been on orange pay monthly contract and never paid for it at all but cannot see free broadband being advertised any more. Does this still exists?
I am due for a contract renewal and wanted to check if anyone else is also enjoying free broadband offer or they have started charging it now?

Thanks

I have been on the free orange broadband now for years (I was with freeserve originally).

When I renewed my Orange contract in April time this year, there was no problem with getting the broadband for free. To be honest, that didn't seem to be much of an issue for them giving it for free.

I've read on the internet a lot of people saying that the Orange broadband is very poor. In the 8 or so years I've had it, I've only had an outage on a handful of occasions and so have been very happy with it.

Edit: Just out of interest, if you find you don't get the deal that you are looking for from Orange (I'm not specifically referring to the free broadband, I'm talking about the package as a whole, ensure you call the retentions department and indicate that you will be leaving. You will typically get a better deal this way.)
  • Your Orange broadband will remain free on any new mobile tariff you take as although they were sold together, they are infact treat as separate accounts. The only way you would lose your free Broadband would be if you cancelled your mobile. If an advisor at Orange tries to tell you otherwise they are lying.

I must have been lied to then, About 3 months ago I moved house and had my phone line disconnected. I informed orange and had to return the livebox. I now live in a new property and rang orange to get my broadband re-connected and was told the broadband contract had been cancelled. When I told them I still had the same mobile phone contract that enabled me to get free broadband they said that offer is no longer available.
  • After the minimum length, you can leave the contract (usually at 1 months notice)
so if you want to leave immediately give 1 months notice at 23 months. Asking for your PAC code to move to another operator will do that also. If you move. If you cancel before 24 months have completed. Yes, you need to pay up the contract. however, you can negotiate and it is less than the remaining months multiplied by the monthly cost, as they will not have provided service (so VAT will be less) and they only need to protect their profits and as you are not using the services you should not need to pay full price for them. If they will not discount, then don't cancel, if need by pay upfront (the whole ammount) but if you have to pay. You should at least get the benefit don't throw the money away. SO negotiate.

Free broadband is a legacy package. You returned the Livebox because you cancelled the broadband. When you decided you wanted the broadband again, your choices were limited to the current packages, not legacy packages.

As already stated above, broadband and mobile are separate accounts, and are run pretty much as separate businesses under the Orange (E.E.) umbrella.
  • To answer the OP,

If you already have free broadband, you'll keep it.

If you don't have it, you cant get it.

And if you move house you will lose it
  • And if you move house you will lose it

Not if you go through the correct move house procedure and ask to transfer the broadband to your new property.

You instead cancelled your broadband, then later asked to signup again. New contract, new package. You lost the legacy package by cancelling.
