We've just had two of these on trial during half term - take any type of paper or thin card but not staples, plastic or cds. Uses no electricity and produces finely shredded matter impossible to reconstruct and ideal for composting.

They do require additional organic matter to keep functioning - and a small amount of water. It may smell if shredded contents are not removed regularly and can be noisy overnight. Further units are required if more than 5-10 sheets of paper are to be shredded daily.

They are ... gerbils!! No home or office should be without them!

Bought the Fellowes p-45, packed up within 1 month, absolute pile of junk.

Bought a cheap Tesco Cross Shredder for £17.99, no problems so far.

I can recommend the cross cut shredder that tr3mor also recommended largely because it has just halved in price (£15 down from £30) and was just voted the best Shredder by Which magazine.

I bought it last week, very good!!!!
  • I bought the TESCO VALUE paper shredder. About £8. It shreds paper just like the name suggests. B&Q have the exact same one, different box for just £7.

On the box it says cuts up to 6 sheets in a go. I usually only ever shred 3 or 4 at a time with no problems.

Seriously girls and guys don't go spending any more money than that on one of theses things. No Need!

And if you wanna save money even further....Haven't you got a pair of scissors tucked away in them drawers?
