store in Colchester called 'what' had wide range of garden and display fireworks, all amazing value as it stands and are all half marked price! if i was to buy the same from teh likes of asda and sainsburys it would have cost over £120, not only are the fireworks better(more rockets, better display items) but cost me only £25 so i reccommend getting down there, not sure if there are other stores but this is a deal not to be missed. all great quality produced for UK market so you know your buying safe family friendly fireworks.

how do you know they are all amazing value. some might look amazing vlaue but be really poor performance, like rockets.

what brands do they sell. some brands are poor even at half price mate.

hey guys,

for all those that are interested in the tescos fireworks, i bought the £30 and £25 BOGOF deals. i bought 2 star cruiser cakes (because i didnt want the selection box) and a packet of mercury rising rockets and a packet of mercury strike shot tubes. heres what i thought;

the 2 cakes were quite good, a nice display of mixed colours, sparkles, screeches and a few bangs (not too loud though for those that want them a bit quieter)

the rockets, well what can be said, theyre from a supermarket so theyre not going to be fantastic now are they. there are 2 different sizes with numbers 1 and 2 on the rocket. DO THE LARGER SIZES FIRST! as these just go up and 'pop' a nice set of coulours though. the smaller rockets are louder and have much more of a bang and also nice colours, which surprised me as they were smaller. i wouldnt really recommend the rocket pack though. but if you have smaller children and want to bulk out your display a bit with some okish rockets then go ahead

now, if you like BIG bangs and LOUD noises, the 9 pack of mercury strike shot tubes are what you are after! seriously, these are really really REALLY good (imo) they produce a massive bang (the type that hits you in the chest) out from the tube with silver/blue sparks following, then explode again with the same sized/loudness bang as when launched and explode into pretty colours. you get 5 different colours in the pack (2 lots of 4 colours and 1 seperate one) and i believe they performed slightly differently to each other too.

i seriously recommend getting 2 packs of the shot tubes (£25 for 2 packs, (BOGOF)) if you want big bangs that put a smile on your face! the rockets i wouldnt really both with if you can get some better ones from somewhere else, but as i said before are good for smaller children. and the 2 cakes i got, well they were worth it too.

i hope this helps someone else out there like me!

but i disagree about the mercury strike being loud. they are cat 3 which means all people need to be 25 metres away- so thats your crowd but also neighbours gardens etc as well

at 25 m its not that loud- i mean its loud enough to be heard but it certainly isn't a proper old fashioned bang its the blackpowder that sends the little shell up, thats what makes the noise

round near me people have been buying these and letting them off in back gardens and even back yards which does make the bang sound loud as it echos off of walls and people are too near.

ok maybe i agree with you. but we have 50 acres of land so we did our display in one of our fields. maybe it was the surrounding trees that added to the effect. i just was quite impressed with the loudness from some fireworks from tesco and thought other people should know if they were interested!

So, are tesco's the best supermarket ones? I've got say £30-40 to spend on a selection pack and a couple of cakes. What would you spend it on?
