Yes the minimum amount that you need to live on when you get past 60 and a bit is nearly double for Pension Credit than it is for any other means tested benefit.
Those over that age need and rightly deserve a more generous amount. They will have worked for upwards of 44 years and rightly expect a better slice of the cake!

Does your mother have state pension as she is over 60.
Could your father not change his hours to part time.
If he is going to stop work and do everything for her it wont do her any good healthwise, people with arthritis need to move.
Yes, I do know what Im talking aout , I have multiple joint arthritis and have had it for over 20 years now, I also have Osteoporos and pernicious aneamia, i force my self to work 3 days a week and it really does help with not stiffending up. Does your mum have any
help with her arthritis, aids, physio etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
sorry i didnt know that
but i think its shocking if the government says a couple has to have at least £202.42 per week to live on when you get to a certain age but when you are younger trying to bring up a family they say you can live on half that. where the logic in that.0 -

There is no logic involved in setting the minimum for Pension Credit. However there is logic for setting it at a much lower level for younger people - they have the option to go out to work. The elderly don't!!
Let's call it the stick and the carrot syndrome!!0
