the payments releases only started to happen last week end and it will be at least 7-10 days before the first payments starts to hit accounts (depending on which benefit is paying as they are all at differnet times) and will contiune up to christmas eve, the payments are £250 and £400, they did not change from last year.

Ahh i was getting mixed up with cold weather payments.

Do you know when they start?

Scratch that, they have already started. Op do you get any of these:
    Pension Credit
If you are in receipt of Pension Credit, you will usually receive Cold Weather Payments.
Income Support and Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
If you are in receipt of Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, you will usually receive Cold Weather Payments if you also have any of following:
    a disability or pensioner premium
    a child who is disabled
Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
a child under five living with you
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
If you are in receipt of Income-related ESA, you will usually receive Cold Weather Payments if you also have any of the following:
the support or work-related component of ESA
a severe or enhanced disability premium
    a pensioner premium
    a child who is disabled
Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
a child under five living with you

No unfortunatly you aren't considered in need enough, these payments are not only given to people like oldsporty who is worried about how to pay for coal over the winter and deserves every penny but also to the likes of Terry Wogan, Robert Plant, and many other millionaires in society.

my point exactly, i'm sure the likes of the people i mentioned are worried about paying their fuel bil (not!!!)l, it makes my blood boil. i know it has been said in the past that it would cost more than it saves to sort out who really needed it and who doesn't, but it looks like it is going to be acheived with child benefit so whats the difference.
