Best SIM card only PAYG deals

Dear all,
My girlfriend will be moving from abroad to London this month. We want to get her phone set up with pay as you go here. She's already got a mobile phone, so I take it we just need to get her a SIM card. I want to know what the best deals are, but the mobile phone comparison sites linked from MSE seem to compare only contract deals, and PAYG deals where you buy the phone. Some of them let you search on SIM card only PAYG plans, but you get only one or two results, which is pretty useless.
Is there any website that compares PAYG SIM card only prices? Or failing that, can someone recommend a provider? I just want to find the cheapest rates for domestic voice calls and texts. I don't expect she'll be making any international calls. Are all providers pretty much the same in terms of price? I expect coverage won't be a major issue in London.

It depends how many mins, text, data etc she needs.
Also make sure her phone is unlocked0 -
Dear Espresso
What is your experience of using "giffgaff". I am aware that they are using O2 bur are they similar signal coverage with o2:
They are new and therefore I am interested in knowing whether there is a problem with Phone Call and Receiving Call. Their call price is very competitive e.g.- 2p calls
- 1p texts
- for £5
Thank you

I have been using them for around 6 months and not had a problem once. Their coverage really is as good as o2's (it is o2's!), so not a lot to worry about there.
Just remember to obtain the 2p per minute and 1p per text you have to pay £5. The point at which this becomes beneficial is at around 64 minutes a month, therefore if you're not going to be using more than 64 mins, it would probably be better to stay on the basic tarriff of 8p per minute calls and 4p per text.
