PAYG Broadband for roaming?

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if I can describe what I am looking for but, is there such a thing as PAYG broadband that I can use so that my laptop can always connect to it wherever I am? Hhhm I have a wireless capability with my laptop that can pick up other peoples wireless connections but I want to have my own that moves with me...

Anyone know what I am talking about!!!!

Oh and doesnt have to be PAYG, could be contract or whatever it just needs to be able to move wherever I am throughout the day!

well you could always take your laptop to a wireless hopspot, but these are expensive, and not always available where you want them

the best thing to do, is to buy a voadfone 3G datacard - its something like £20 - £30 a month, and gives you ireless internet over the vodafone 3G network

Depending on what you need the connectivity for, have you considered getting a blackberry instead?

Hi...nope I hadnt thought of that at all!!! To be honest I know very little about these things, but perhaps if I explain what I need it for it might help you to help me!!!!!

I have the laptop already, that has a wireless capability in it (again dont have a clue about this but thats apparently what it has!). So at the moment I spend a lot of time moving around and twice a day everyday I need to access the internet at specific times without fail (I trade shares). The important thing is that I can't actually be reliant on any external connection, or place like a coffee shop as I might not be near anywhere with internet at the moment i need to be.

So, what I am looking for is something that can reliably connect my laptop to the internet so that I can trade wherever I am.

well there are ample of choices.

If you have a 3g phone, voda 3g/ o2 3g, those are automatically modems themselves, just connect them to your laptop, install the software u received with the phone, and there is an option to connect to the internet via your phone. It's about 460mbits/s, relatively fast. Costwise, no idea..but not too much.

There is another thing which is called a 3G datacard, it's a new trick on the market. you might want to google that.

Assuming that you need information stored on your laptop to be able to do your trading, then something like the 3G datacard is probably a good solution.

Just one quick extra question.....Does anyone know if these 3G datacards are reliable? Im guessing that they just connect up to the phone companies network somehow...But its important that I dont suddenly loose reception somewhere along the line!

it should be reliable, belongs as you stay in a 3G covered area, which should be expanding everyday
