If you have any Tesco vouchers, you can use them on certain sofas at MFI. The deals booklet says that you cannot use them for SofaWorkshop, BUT they have changed suppliers in some stores so you can use them for the ones in the newer range. We are currently waiting for ours to arrive, so I cannot comment, as yet, on delivery and quality - sorry! Remember your vouchers are worth 4xface value and your total spend needs to be over £250. Hope this helps.

Do you have their [custom made furniture] contact details, please?

We liked the Miami range at DFS especially their contemporary revolving single seater. The whole thing will cost us nearly £2k. As fellow MSEs are not so happy with DFS I would like to buy a similar design elsewhere.

    try this

Pay with cash and you may be able to haggle a bit. WE got £50 knocked off!
    .

Very dodgy paying with cash, if they go belly up you loose all your money and if its faulty down the line you can always get some comback with the credit card company

I think that if you pay with a credit card it is still considered a cash sale so to speak...its only if you dont take the instore credit anything else you pay with is considered cash.
Many many years ago I worked for a leather sofa retailers (wont mention their name) and we were paid a basic plus comission for every sale which i think is usual, manager always tried to close the deals to get the comission but I had a pretty face (then) and quite a lot of charm and usually got to close my own sales, I always used to encourage the customer to make a cash payment (credit card included) although I was told to plug the credit facility (yes I know, never have been a jobsworth) because I was allowed to give up to 20% discount if they didnt take the credit at my own discression..I did this cos i knew I could close the deal. Had a field day when I decided to leave, gave everyone who walked in the door a full 20% without even them asking lol

We have just purchased a sofa from Reid's , we got a suite from them years ago and it was great .
In with my deal got a rug that was £499.00 for £100.00 ( originally the sales man would do me a deal for £250.00), been looking for the right/cheaper rug for months and also FREE stain /rip /broken cover .

Thought that mabe i got ripped off with the price but on comparrison for like for like i got a good deal on the sofa

Paid by credit card ( cash saale ) rather than their 3 year 0% finance so i could get the carper cheap for doing a cash sale , and will transfer to 0% credit card as soon as the bill comes in.

Any form of credit, instore or other is considered cash by the retailer as they will get paid in a matter of days.
Credit cards, as the name suggests is credit and any form of credit over £100. and under £30,000, is covered by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and makes the supplier of the credit (CC company or other) "jointly and severally liable", so anything goes wrong with the company, or even if they won't play ball re the Sale of Goods Act, you can sue either or both.

    From HERE:-

    Paying by credit card
You have extra protection if you pay by credit card
for goods and services that cost more than £100
for one item (but less than £30,000), because
the credit card issuer, as well as the supplier, is
liable if something goes wrong later on.

    Deposits
Use your credit card instead of a cheque, cash
or debit card if the total bill for the item will be
more than £100. If the trader stops trading or
fails to fulfill the contract, the credit card issuer
    has to refund you.

Saturdays always a good ime to haggle. Last day of the week and its usually when the targets are set for. If the store is having a poor week they will bend and give you discount, on the other hand they may be on a high because they have reached their target and still give discount. I would try late afternoon on a Saturday. Make an offer and say nothing, last person to speak is usually the loser....... always be prepared to walk, there is plenty of stores around
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

On first viewing I was impressed........................ and then I dug a little deeper!

Personally I think the description is seriously misleading, especially "made of top quality leather"! In an e-mail from the sales manager of Artemis the leather is described as "100% bicast leather" which is man-made with some real leather.

    Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicast_leather) says this:
"Bicast leather (also known as bycast leather or PU leather) is a synthetic upholstery product consisting of a thick polyurethane layer applied to a leather or reconstituted leather substrate. It is commonly found in inexpensive furniture.

Because bicast leather is fundamentally a man-made product, some jurisdictions (such as New Zealand and the United Kingdom) have ruled that it cannot be marketed as leather."
