  • Yes there was a small debt of £5.67 - but the supplier has said they will refund that to the meter (althought that was a week ago and as of yet, no refund!) I wondered if i was setting it wrong as i have the output and input on the highest number? I had no instruction manual left in the house either.

    Yikes that explains it!

Turn input down to half way for now, and leave it. The output you should turn down to the lowest number when you are out/in bed and not needing heat. If you want it warmer than that you turn the output up gradually until you get your comfort level.

It is important to turn the output down overnight otherwise as fast as you charge up the heater the heat will escape again.

Think of it as a big rechargeable battery the input is charging up and the output is using the power up.
  • Thanks so much macman and katie-kat-kins that has been so helpful - i had no idea about the output/input switch or about the on/off peak rates. Very gratfeul i can go home and turn the output down and see about the landlord allowing me some curtains maybe!
  • My storage heaters the dials are 1-6.

At this time of year input of 1 or 2 is fine, output is down to 1 unless I feel cold then I turn it up. I will turn both up when we get freezing temperatures regularly.

The instructions with mine suggest starting with input on 4 and adjusting if you are too warm or too cold.
