ive noticed on lots of items, mainly tiffany jewellery that people are saying its authentic, but clearly its not real, especially for the ££ it goes for, how are they allowed to do that??

sometimes ebay gets hold of them and stops their auctions, other times the word 'authentic' is taken up as in it is an authentic copy of tiffany jewelery, not real but an authentic copy, the wording is wrong I know, you have to be very careful in what you buy on Ebay.
I bought an 'authentic' Louis Vitton hand-bag a while ago, it was a copy, Ebay was contacted and they told me the distinction between a real one and 'authentic' xxx0 -
so basically they use the word "authentic" as a good copy. how then will i knoew if the product is real??0

You need to decide if you can trust the seller.
Check the feedback, see if they have listed anything else like this. And if they have, is the feedback complimentary?0 -
also the price, tbh I use to sell replica watches/handbags (I'm going to get flamed for this) and I never mis sold one ie I never misled the buyer into thinking they were buying an authentic item., there are many claiming authentic but there not, I would go as far to say that probably 95% of louis vuitton etc are fake, especially at those prices.
people knew exactly what they were buying and were happy with it.
although in all my years doing it, my wife actually listed a authentic gucci bag the other day and it was pulled, (by gucci) for not stating it was authentic, how ironic!
some companies protect there copyright better than others. For example gucci have dedicated employees that look through auctions sites spotting fakes. I had spotted that certain brands were never pulled and ended up selling just those because it there was less chance of them being pulled.
By the way I don't condone people being tricked into buying a replica thinking its an original item.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
There is very little genuine Tiffany on ebay.
Marking fakes as authentic just to stop them getting pulled makes a mockery of the system. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
That wasn't a criticism of anyone, just a moan about the state of ebay.My TV is broken!

yeah I agree, there are still ways around the sytem, I think ebay are just so big its near on impossible to watch everything, although these peopel that are bidding on so called authentic gucci bags and paying near on three hundred pounds are either really dumb or think there getting a bargain. quite why they think thats a bargain I'm not sure.
still i read/heard somewhere that the replcia/fake trade has an average turnover of 800 billion.
I knwo when I use to sell my stuff that demand use to be so good that i couldn't import the items quick enough and ebay use to be the ideal market place for them.
It has changed slightly now in that they are tryign to crack down on it, I even heard that the chinnese goverment were trying to stop the fakes/replicas leaving there ports because they wanted to be known for something/anything rather than supplying fake goods.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

I am ashamed to say I paid well over £150 for the said bag!! My silly fault I know but was lead to believe it was genuine xxx0
