If a fault occurs during the first six months then it is assumed to have been faulty at the time of sale....as this mattress was bought within a year Sainsburys are obliged to find out if it was faulty at the time you bought it.
They can offer either replacement, repair or refund... with some conditions on which is appropriate. If it is faulty they are obliged to offer an exhange.

And where did you get this nugget of information?
Various websites - I researched the subject thoroughly before I spent £500 on a mattress. The reason that pocket sprung mattresses aren't usually suitable for slatted bases is because each spring works independently, so if the gaps between the slats are too big then the springs will try to push between them. To prevent this you need to add extra slats to close the gap to about 1 - 2 inches. If you can't add extra slats, then you can lay a sheet of peg board (hard board with loads of holes in it) over the slats.

What Viktory says is true. Although the maximum is really 1" gap for most pocket sprung only mattresses. And as they also say, you can lay a sheet of pegboard or hardboard over the slats to spread the weight out and protect the springs.0 -
I would have thought most decent pocket sprung mattresses would have enough wadding material to spread the load.0

Only if it has memory foam or latex foam on both sides.
You need to take into account that pocket springs are designed to contour to your body. So the springs need to be able to work independently. They could use wadding that would spread the weight out, but it would prevent the springs from working independently.0 -
Did you turn the mattress as per the instruction when it was new.
Mine came with turning instruction I had to follow for about 6 months or so.
Turned side to side, then on other weeks end to end and so on.
Even now I turn it or end to end it each month.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

It's not just for the first six months that you need to turn it. You need to continue to turn mattresses (especially pocket sprung) roughly every month (as you rightly do).
The OP's mattress contains a continuous spring system, which is the most unreliable spring system on the market. Most manufacturers used to use them, but most stopped because they were so unreliable and noisey. So there is a good chance the springs would have failed anyway.0 -

All I can say is it's an independent manufacturer based in West Yorkshire.0
