Carphone Warehouse has launched a dedicated mobile phone auction site, taking on auction giant eBay.
The new site; mymobileauction.com will allow customers to list there phone in a similar way to as they would on eBay, but in the hope that the potential customers will only be looking for phones rather than everything else under the sun.

Anyway, the site does indeed have a feedback facility...just as it is new, no one yet has sold anything so no one has any feedback apart from cpw themselves who not surprisingly has 100% feedback! (appears to be made up! )the_tired_one wrote:So who are the sellers? Always CPW or can private buyers list auctions?
There's a check to ensure no blacklisted phones are allowed, which is at least an improvment over eBay."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

There are some much cheaper offerings in the Accessories section
Not as cheap as this site though! :rotfl:"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
This is possibly the worst idea I've heard all week.
What a waste of time, I bet Dunstone was behind this one. From a business perspective he's just flushing money down the pan.
eBay may have its share of problems, but I doubt anything can really compete with it. The only thing that comes close is Amazon Marketplace. Can I afford to buy? Mortgage Affordability Calculator

Looks like CPW have quite a few items listed to make the site interesting, but I think it is primarily aimed at private sellers who appear to be slowly adding their stuff.

This reminds me of MSN launching a search engine trying to compete against GOOGLE, this site will never take off like Ebay. Just because the mobiles are on the site are checked to see if they are stolen doesn't guarantee the phone will be as described or that the seller will actually post the item.
The site is a move in the right direction.0 -
Just looked at the site using the link http://www.mymobileauction.com/ to see how it was progressing and got this:The site is down for testing and maintenance throughout the weekend. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Edit: ... but you can still get access to the entire site here:
