Do you have a routine for your washing and ironing? A system? My washing and ironing is getting on top of me, and its only gonna get worse.

The main problem, apart from CBA, is putting it away.

Im quite likeing todays list as I've done alot of it already over the weekend, which is good as I need to crack on and finish the kitchen, including cleaning the oven:eek: which has been soaking overnight. I think I might have more children than you lol..

I don't iron.. ever.. complete waste of time if things are folded straight from dryer while warm they don't crumple.. or they are folded and put on the radiator to dry.. so dry folded.

Putting it away.. I put into individual piles on the kitchen table and the children.. even Tiddles who is 5.. each take their own pile. Whoever comes back first takes mine and OH's/towels/bedding. They have taken they own stuff away since they were about 3.. It gets put away nicely or they get to tidy their drawers.

If it is folded while they are out I take a pile up each time I go up and put it straight away.. waste of time going up empty handed.. coming down I usually bring dirty washing.

  • Think you do, piggers, are you counting your OH? I'm counting mine!!

So do you think that a three year old can really do that? Problem is even with my 7 yr old, pairing of socks is beyond her, and then I get earache from the parents on Monday morning when she can't find socks that match.

Also...I've been to lazy to sort as its ironed, or I sort it then put it all in the same basket (d'oh!)

I try to pair socks as they come out of the dryer.

I give the little ones no more than they can carry so usually about 5 items folded and tell them.. put that in your drawers nicely. they have a little basket we fill with paired socks and they take it up and put them away.

3 year olds are always capable of so much more than we give them credit for!

My 7 year old is teeny tiny and she takes hers, sometimes towels too or helps Tiddles do hers.. Putting away their own laundry is the only job they always have to do. The ones with the messiest cupboards are the ones that are 16, 14, 13 and 11.. the little ones have lovely tidy drawers..

I have a shoebox into which all the socks go once they are dry. I then pair socks whilst watching TV. The ones that don't have pairs stay in the box until after the next lot of washing is done.

I must admit I struggle to keep on top of the washing sometimes and when I finally think there is no more dirty washing, within a day at least one of the baskets is full again!

My two oldest put their own clothes away and my 8 year old also puts the babies' clothes away for me sometimes.

I don't know how you cope Pigpen with all of yours. I only have four children to sort out!
