Vauxhall - timing chain

The Timing Chain on my 53 Signum slipped back in May - got it to the garage just before it snapped. We had thought it was the problem that affected the earlier models in Field Remedy 1532, but no. Naturally got onto Vauxhall who didn't want to know as the car was 8 years old.
After loads of investigation I found Field Remedy 2366 which affects the Z22YH engine and came into place in 2008. Vauxhall confirmed that my engine might have been affected. Then I found an invoice from a Vauxhall garage back in 2007 - had remembered it was a big bill but not what it was for. It was the Timing Chain. Vauxhall are now trying to weedle out of this bill! £1168 it cost and the work they did didn't last 5 years!!! They keep skirting round the issue. Going to take it much further

if you join VVOC that's vauxhall vectra owners club you will get loads of help with this issue.I am sure that recall has something to do with engine serial numbers ,early ones had too small a nozzle fitted to lube the chain there was a recall i think and larger nozzle fitted to cure the problem and engines from a certain number had this mod done before fitting.
If it all goes pair shaped for you just pop to one or two car auctions and you pick a veccy up for a good price I'm on my third one in ten years ( two were crashed so had to be got rid of ) My current veccy is 2.2 with chain and apart from using genuine vaux oil AND oil filter every 10,000 miles (the service book will tell you 20000 but to me oil is the life blood so i change it sooner) my car only gets minimum maintenance and has 124k on it .
