when i click on my google results, it takes to junk websites.
i can get to the websites i need if i type the address in the toolbar but not via google.
ive done numerous AVG scans and also downloaded ADAWARE and scanned with that.
i need to get this sorted as it has just redirected me to a !!!!!! site.
any suggestions?
many thanks

Sounds like you have a virus. Delete google toolbar and re-install may fix your problem"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

download this
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
install it and let it update
then do a full scan and post the log file it produces at the end back on this threadEx forum ambassador

Browtoa's advise is absolutely correct but remember to remove anything malarebytes finds before posting log on here.0

I found this fix suggested on the Google forums :-
(1) Click START > RUN > and type in "C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
(2) When prompted, open the HOSTS file in either Notepad or Wordpad
(3) Delete all the lines of IP addresses in the text document except for "127.0.0.1 localhost"
It worked for the individual who posted it there so I thought it worth reprising here. However - undertake at your own risk !

That may stop the redirecting but won't remove the cause (the malware) so malwarebytes is still the best method.
I am quite sure there is a programme which restores the hosts files...0 -
thanks.
just running a full scan at the moment. will post the log when its done0 -
After youve posted the malwarebytes log -
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0
