Virgin Media misleading bill

Virgin Media broadband comes in three different sizes: L, XL, and XXL. They cost £12.75, £20, and £25 respectively.
This is what appears on my bill (8 July 2010) under Service charges, Advance charges:
Telephone Line Rental: £11.99
Phone & B'Band XL & XXL Discount: -£17.00
Broadband Size: XL: £37.00
According to Virgin Media own website the broadband package XL does not cost £37, it costs £20! This is exactly what I currently pay with the "discount". In my opinion the above stated price of £37 is a lie; and the "discount" of £17 irrelevant. The package does cost £20 pure and simple, and, as far as I can say, the "discount" did make me believe that I had a really good deal and discouraged me to look for a better deal else where: after all why should I bother when Virgin treat me so well by making me pay only half the price?
Should my bill read the following instead:
Telephone Line Rental: £11.99
Broadband Size: XL: £20.00
Why are they telling me that they are giving me a discount when that's not the truth? Are they allowed to print incorrect figures on bills?

Hi, i have virgin media and after reading your post i telephoned them, i have xxl 50 meg internet and i pay £28 a month for this, and on the website xxl broadband is £25.The explanation i was given was the price is dependent on the size of the phone package you have. I have xl phone package and that is why my internet is £3 a month more.Dont know if this helps?.0

It is well known that Virgin Media have one of the strangest pricing models in the market and you will find it discussed a lot online as it has annoyed many. Their prices are always high then discounted down on your bill - as a result, the advertised price is never quite right, as after the initial discount the supposed base price can be different for different customers depending on when they signed up. It also means that if you get a package discount by having two or more services, you are never quite sure how it works - for example, getting a £20 supposed loyalty discount you would think that you were quids in, but can end up paying around the same as any other customer straight off the website as they take it from the top price, not the advertised lower price. Smoke and mirrors ...

Regarding the 50Mbps broadband. Until very recently it was advertised at £28. If I go through the link to upgrade from XL to XXL it still says £28.
I don't know if they really are reducing the price to £25 or if there is an error on the website.0 -

Well , if you think you can get a better deal somewhere else , then go for it!
I think the web prices are like that for 'New Customers Only' .. if you are an existing customer , you pay the full price.
After that , VM sweeten the pill with a bundle discount ..0
