iphone 4 sim only tariffs

I'm coming to the end of my current iphone tariff with O2. Bought the iphone 4 sim free so just kept the current deal and switched over sim into the new phone.

I'm now looking for a sim only deal. I'm not a high user either with minutes or data (500Mb being more than enough) so really looking for the cheapest deal.

Have looked at a few;

Vodafone - better signal at work for me but seems dear at £20pm for the cheapest deal.

O2 - Simplicity at £15pm. Could be fine if perhaps Retentions might chuck in free/reduced broadband which is also at the end of its contract at about the same time. Signal level is fine normally but can be a bit of a hit and miss at work - some areas fine but others weak.

Tesco - same signal as O2. I saw their £10pm tariff which looks ideal but doesn't say it can be used in an iphone. However they also have iphone tariffs but they start at £15pm.

Can the £10pm tariff be used in an iphone 4 or is it not a micro sim?

GiffGaff - again uses O2 so signal the same. This would be fine too. Would they still continue to offer free data on their goody bags?

Orange - haven't noticed any great sim only deals.

T-Mobile - have seen their £10pm deal but I don't know about signal either at work or at home as no-one has one.

3 - iphone tariff at £15pm. Again they also seem to do a £10pm but doesn't specifically say iphone tariff.

Anyone help out with my decision?

For what its worth, I found the Tesco Mobile £20 tariff to be of best value.
Seems like you want to keep your plan around the £10 mark.

The £10pm tariff is 500 minutes, unlimited texrs and 500Mb data. The iphone 4 specific tariff is £15pm for 250 minutes, unlimited texts and 1Gb data. £10pm would be fine but it's not a micro sim - presumably I can cut it down though.

£20pm tariff is 750 minutes, unlimited texts and data.

Over the last 17 months that I have had an iphone the maximum number of minutes I've used is 143 and the maximum amount of data is 217Mb. Basically I don't need something at £20 when £10 or £15 will more than do.

Yeah the tesco £10 a month deal would be fine for you. You might have to manual cut the SIM down to size though. One thing to note about Tmob and Orange is that you can now share signal (2G only) across the 2 networks as they're the same company. Remember quidco for tesco.

Are you talking about the £10 a month 12 month deal with Tmob that's on the phone only?

How easy is it to cut down the SIM?

I did read that. Orange is just about the same at work as O2 - works in some parts of the building but not others.

    Thanks.

It was the 30 day SIM only deal I looked at - only 100 minutes/texts though. Would need to change the Flexible Booster to unlimited internet.

Still need to cut down the SIM.

Of course this depends on O2 - has anyone managed to get free or discounted BB from them? If they do I can go with the iphone Simplicity tariff at £15pm.

Ah I was talking about this Tmob deal, which some people have reported getting for £10 a month still now:

I don't know how easy it is to cut down a sim, but I'm sure there'll be a guide somewhere online. If you do it wrong I'm sure you can call up and ask for another, although they might think you're a bit silly managing to break a simcard. :p

I had forgotten about that one. No idea if it's still available though.

I do believe there are some special cutters available too.

There's no law against using it in an iphone!

If they detect it so what, it's a 30 day contract, just cancel it.

I've cut down a sim card to fit into an iPad without any problems or buy a sim cutter off ebay.

I was like you, a low user with an out of contract iPhone (3GS), I got the T-Mobile 12 month sim only deal, when it was £7.50; I won't come close to using a fraction of my allowance, but at that price it was a no brainer, I still think it is at £10. I told them I had an iPhone and was asked if I needed a micro sim.....

Also remember that T-Mobile share 3G networks with 3 and maybe soon also Oranges 3G network.

Check which has the best coverage and go from there.
