I'm only saying what the documentary showed, might be worth shopping around as the Oakham chicken is the same one they sell in all the supermarkets under their own brand packaging. You may well be able to get the same chicken at a better deal elsewhere.
Might worth checking out the documentary on iplayer, I think it was 'food what goes in your basket' or somehing similar. It was aired in the last month or so.Comping wishlist for 2017

It was shown on channel 4 in the last month or so.
Oakham chickens don't come from Oakham, no, but they are higher welfare, slower growing birds. There are restrictions on how many birds to a square metre, what they are fed, if they are given drugs etc. and while not free range they are reared better than than cheap chickens.
I don't remember exactly what they said on the programme about which other supermarkets might be selling the birds, but they are most definitely NOT the same as the cheap birds. They might be the same as the co-op chickens, not sure.52% tight0 -
Jellyhead is right, I watched that too, but the birds aren't from Oakham it's a trademarked name for the birds to sound posher. They're the same as higher quality birds in Sainsburys, Tesco finest etc. But they are a better class of bird.
Halifax just had a big sign saying " sorry you missed us" ie from the birds, and apparently they only had that one shelf full for the promo. Did however get some chocs buy one get one free so didn't come out empty handed!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140 -
